The Cistercian abbey of Follina is a very remarkable building with a wonderful cloister which is a wonderful place of peace and spirituality regardless of whether you are a believer or not. The place exudes a great sense of beauty and meditation so everyone can find their own dimension. The perspective of the facade from the base of the staircase is very beautiful, beautiful geometric perspectives are created.

The Abbey of Santa Maria di Follina, in the province of Treviso, is one of the most important examples of Cistercian architecture. Unfortunately it needs some restoration, but the beauty of the structure is not obscured by it, fortunately. Definitely worth an extended visit.

A lovely, quiet place built starting 1286. Originally an abbey with adjoining cloisters, it now functions as the village church and tourist attraction. But since the atmosphere is so very peaceful, I love to spend some quiet time in the church, no matter how may visitors.

Follina, a village in the midst of Prosecco country, holds a very interesting treasure: the old abbey which offers a moment of peace and quiet for the stressed traveller.

We stayed at the "il Ciostro" branch of this comfy elegant quiet stylish (just right) hotel in the heart of the marvels of the Veneto, a region best experienced, like Venice itself, at a slow pace. Highlighs, for us:Sta Maria di Follina medieval cloister--right there out the window, amazing in person; mountainside driving through prosecco vineyards (this is "The" region) abd, short drives away, villa Macer, a Palladio-Veronese masterpiece beyond description & Asolo, the hilltop town of non cliché charm; The Chiostro hotel hallways and room(16) were intelligently well designed, warm and chicly Italian.

Lovely old monastry, definitely worth seeing and reflecting for a minute. Follina also well worth a visit - in the midst of prosecco country.

This is a beautiful Abbey rich in history. We had a lovely visit walking around and taking a few minutes to sit in the sanctuary. If you have not put this on your list of sights to see, you should!

Our photographer recommended the Follina Abbey as a great location for pictures. We were very impressed with this location, it was beautiful and had a lot of areas that worked well for our vow renewal pictures. It was historic and very quiet and relaxing. (photos by Danilele Mion Photography, who we highly recommend as well)
