You can get there by foot or chairlift (12 Euros return). We went by chairlift both ways and would recommend it. It’s both fun and saves your legs! There’s a lovely bar at the top with terrace overlooking Capri. The views are stunning. Be aware...More
My girlfriend and I visited Capri during our time in Italy and we both fell in love with Capri. We took a bus up to the Monte Solaro stairlift which was an experience in itself! Taking the stairlift up the mountain was absolutely fantastic and...More
This was a brilliant experience! The chairlift itself I found exhilarating and slightly terrifying in equal measure. It takes around 12 minutes to reach the top and it's certainly worth the wait - the views were unreal! There's a bar at the top too for...More
We tried to take a bus to Anacapri from the ferry, but the wait was too long. Found another couple to share a cab, both going up and coming down. Much better use of our time. We went on the chairlift as soon as we...More
This was really cool - if not a little scary. The attraction is good value at 11€ round trip and takes 13mins each way. At the top is a restaurant and amazing views!
The seats don’t feel that safe with only a small bar pulled...More
We took the cable car up to the summit of Mount Solaro - for 11 euros return it's a real bargain. The views from the top are outstanding, particularly on a clear day. Sadly the day we went they were rather hazy but impressive all...More
We took the cable car and it was just magical we were the first people up there as it was early in the morning. The views are incredible and there’s a lovely little bar/coffee shop at the top where we enjoyed an Aperol spritz.
As part of our stay in Positano we took ferry to Capri. we had decided the one thing we really wanted to do was Mount Solaro. Took the funicular up from port the took bus to Anacapri to get chairlift. Did not have to wait...More
We took the chairlift up which was fantastic, takes around 12mins each way but does not go too high from the ground. You ride in singular chairs and it’s quite peaceful and relaxing once you get into the chair, which was an ordeal for some...More

From the Marina, you take either the funicular (cable car) or the bus up the hill to the centre of Capri. Both cost €2 per person. The funicular probably runs more frequently and can transport more people. Don’t take a taxi it will be €20-€25. Then in Capri central you take a bus to Anacapri. Bus station is just 100m or so from the funicular. Takes roughly 15mins from memory. When you get off in Anacapri the chairlift is maybe 100m from the bus stop up the hill.

I would obviously think that the earlier the better to avoid the queues as the longer you leave it the more ferries will arrive. We went up at about 12 and the queue was quite big but it moves pretty quickly so don't be put off if it looks quite long.
I don't think you can pre-book tickets, you just pay when you get there and you can pay cash or card.
