    Worth the visit
Great to do whilst in Capri. Not too expensive and the views at the top are amazing. Do early in the day to avoid queues and the heat as the chair lift is 13 minutes each way with no shade. Also make sure to look around Anacapri before or after, a lovely place

    13 minutes of peace
After the crowds in Capri, and the white knuckle bus ride up to Anacapri, the trip up to Monte Solaro on the chairlift was a godsend. It’s so peaceful, like 13 minutes of me time. From the square in Anacapri the lift is €14 return, it’s individual chairs, and the views are spectacular both from the lift and at the summit viewpoint, I cannot recommend this enough, bellissima!!

An absolute must visit in Capri
Was the highlight of our day trip to Capri from Sorrento. Absolutely stunning views of the blue Mediterranean waters and the landscape nearby. The place feels so nice and fresh in the morning and lifts your mood and spirits as well! Understand it gets a bit crowded as the day progresses so best is to visit this place earlier in the day. The area nearby from where the chair lift starts is also good for shopping and has lot of very nice restaurants and bars. There is a bakery in one of the lanes in the front which has very good pizza and other eats. Easily accessible by public transport from Capri.

A highlight of an Italy backpacking trip!
Monte solaro was definitely a highlight of our backpacking trip around Italy. The single chairs made it quite a special individual experience, slowly taking in the landscape views. The view at the top was also spectacular, with a spot for refreshments. We enjoyed hiking down the tracks on the way back whilst passing old ruins and appreciating views from a different perspective.

    Better than a Stannah Stairlift……
Great fun on the cable ride to the highest point on Capri. We’ll worth the 14 euro return. Would recommend. Excellent viewpoints. Nothing much up there except a single restaurant. Go up. Take photos. Come down. Perfect.

    Amazing
As someone who doesn’t like the swinging chairs at theme parks, I was kind of nervous about the cable chairs up the mountain. However, it was amazing and totally worth it for views at the top. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s planning on visiting the island.

Not for everyone but it’s a short ride for amazing views!
I’m not a fan of chair lifts, ski lifts or gondolas but to see the amazing views needs must! The ride up was ok, you go over a lot of private gardens and never really far off the ground. The views are obviously great (if you can bear to look) it did stop a little but this is from when people struggle to get on/off. The last section is pretty steep! Coming back down the views are great, I enjoyed this better.

    Amazing views from the top
We came here by taking a bus from Capri to Anacapri. We then queued to buy tickets for the chairlift to get to the top. The chairlift itself was quite an experience. The views from the top were fantastic. We decided to hike down, which wasn't exactly easy, but not too hard. However, thinking back I would have just taken the chairlift down again, especially since the view on the way down is nicer than on the way up.

Beautiful view at the top. Don't let young children ride though
The chairlift entrance station is near the bus station in Anacapri. You have to walk about a half a block to the station. They have free lockers for your belongings and I would recommend doing that. You have to almost jump in the chairs and you just hold the bar down with your hand. It doesn’t lock so some people might be afraid. I would not let young children under 12 ride it because the safety bar doesn't lock. The view at the top though is awesome and you can see the fragolini rocks from there. There is a little cocktail and snack bar at the top. It is nice to sit up the top and enjoy the view. Very nice view.

    Fantastic breathtaking views very safe
Visited in the busy tourist season in Summer . They help you on the seats . Even if you are afraid of heights take the plunge ! It’s a short ride & goes slowly . Scariest thing is setting off but it’s fine & hold your flip flops 🩴!

Very unique experience from Anacapri. Chairlift to top is well worth the price, offering amazing views on way up and back down. (You can hike up or down if you prefer, but going up would be a workout in the heat.) Once at top you will have amazing views of island, including a great vantage point of famed rock formations. Cafe/bar at top if you need refreshment and some trails for the adventurous.

We visited Capri for a day trip during our stay in Sorrento on a €55 tour I’d highly recommend. We went straight from the boat to a bus that took us up to Annacapri, and from there we boarded the chairlift to the top of the mountain. The 13 minute ride up was great fun, and views from the top were spectacular.

There is a nice cafe at the top too. We spent over €20 on hame and cheese sandwiches and water, so my advice is to go better prepared, or be willing to pay (the latter is probably a motto for Capri as a whole!)

If you’re in Anacapri you must go on the chairlift and visit the mountain peak - if you are in Capri for more than a day it’s also easy to get to by bus from the Marina or Main Square.

The views across the whole island are simply stunning, and reached by single seat chairlift which climbs the mountain. It’s so peaceful and calm and a wonderful experience (unless you have vertigo - it might not be for you!).

You get to the top on arrival the views are breathtaking. You can see the whole island across to the mainland and even over to Mount Vesuvius.

The return trip is well worth the €12 - I didn’t see the stairs or how you’d actually make the journey back down again....

We are happy we took the opportunity to go by this cable chair lift to the top of Monte Solaro when we visited Capri.
Of all excursions on the island this is the one which gives the opportunity to see most spectacular views of the island, sea and surroundings, it is a highest part of the island with 589 meters above a sea level.

Journey starts at the cablecar station in the village of Anacapri, ticket includes both ways to the top of the mountain and back. Single way takes something about 10 minutes, and you go by the chair, one per person, which is moving by the cable, see my pictures attached.
Well on the top of the mountain is a station where you can leave the chair and take a walk to see the amazing views, taking a walking path around the top with a number of viewpoints, and a restaurant with in- and outdoor sitting.
Then it is just to take a ride back to village, same ticket is valid.
Very worth a visit!

After arriving on the island, we decided to visit Ana Capri as it was less crowded.
When we got there, we discovered we could take a cable car to Monte Solaro.
It was quite a queue but we didn’t wait long.
It was very pretty & peaceful on the cable car. When we arrived at the summit the views were breathtaking. So beautiful. Absolutely stunning.
There is a restaurant there if you want refreshments.
I highly recommend this experience.

Amazing views and peaceful ride uo to the top. Once up top there is a small restaurant and some viewpoints to soak uo the scenery. It was a nice clear day which is always helpful. The weather cooperated which you just never know what you are going to get on an island.

Capri is a tourist maelstrom - imagine 25,000+ tourists disembarking daily during season on an island of 16,000. The chairlift to Monte Solaro's summit offers you a peaceful respite. And the views of Anacapri and Faraglioni are terrific. The 12 Euros roundtrip fare is money well spent.
