Wine and chocolate in a wonderful, quiet setting
This winery was recommended to us by a friend, and boy was it a worthwhile visit. We decided on the wine and chocolate tasting and enjoyed four wines, each with two different pieces of chocolate. We chose the latest time for the tasting, which resulted in us being the only customers with the tour guide. She was very knowledgable and friendly as we toured the wine producing and storage facilities. The architecture and coloring of the was quite interesting. We purchased a case of their wine and have been enjoying it with our family. Since there are so many wineries in and around Saint-Emilion it can be difficult to choose which ones to visit but definitely put this one on your list.

A Memorable Tour of the Chateau
Our guide Sonia made us all fall in love with the chateau, the wine and the history. She explained everything clearly and with great passion. We were also interested in visiting the chateau for its architecture, and it met our expectations. Highly recommended!

    Great tour
We had a visit yesterday with your guide Melody. She did a fantastic job explaining the history and details of the winemaking in the region. I’ve been on many wine tours over the world but found her information the most interesting and compelling. The vineyard itself is very pretty to look at too and we had a tasting at the end. The only difficult thing is getting here! We came on a Sunday by Uber from Bordeaux and didn’t have a car. It was impossible to get a taxi or Uber back to town! We ended up getting a ride from someone at the vineyard but definitely don’t expect that as an option! We went into Saint Emillion which was 7 minute drive away and got an Uber back to Bordeaux from there (can also take the train).

I would love it if you could give a minus rating. We were refused at the door in the single rudest exchange I have ever experienced. I would advise anybody thinking of coming here to go absolutely anywhere else unless you appreciate shockingly rude individuals with small man syndrome

I bought into a foodie's blog about La Dominique. We did not take the tour but here is our lunch experience:

We lunched on the terrace, which had large umbrellas the waiter promised to open if we became too warm.

Pros
Rolls were delicious with our favorite salted butter. Salad with smoked halibut and a mustard dressing was very good.

Cons
Main course consisted of sweet potatoes, puréed to a baby food consistency, covering chunks of duck. I wasn't a fan of the textures of purée and duck.

Juicy, jewel-like figs and berries embellished a slice of almond cake, a bit dry, that we had for dessert. We ordered two glasses of house wine, which cost almost as much as the meal.

Service was slow; we requested that our umbrella be opened as we became quite uncomfortable under the midday sun. That never happened. Other guests struggled unsuccessfully to open theirs.

The terrace overlooking the vineyard was quite nice, although the topography was flat and nothing exceptional. This was certainly not the first time I've had an overpriced meal, and no doubt it won't be the last.

Saint-Emilion is no longer a "sleepy" region in France that's frozen in time. Some of the world renowned wineries are competing to offer visitors a unique and intriguing wine experience.

Jean Nouvel has created a stunning and clever piece of bold modern "signature" architecture for the domaine, Château La Dominique.

Our (1) hour wine tour was intriguing and informative. We highly recommend this Domaine.

We had a very pleasant visit including wine tasting with the incredibly talented Claudia. This is a must do on any visit to this part of France. The building is an exquisite blend of old and new, and the wine is equally exquisite. Beautifully appointed restaurant too, which sadly we did not have time to try.

We arrived at the place with a reservation to see the vineyard at 4.30pm, and there was only one inept hostess. we arrived at the place on the recommendation of a few French people and they made the reservation, and when we arrived at the place a blonde with glasses, not qualified to do anything well and that she did not find any better job than working as a receptionist whose job is only jotting down hours of visits, his ineptitude was tremendous that he was unable to give a good excuse and only said that he could not do anything so that me and my partner could attend the tour. the worst service and a shame for the French and for the place. it is not possible for a good place to have a girl so inept to do such an easy job. poor person I hope her find something interesting to do with your life.
37 friends from all over Europe had planned to tour this vineyard, and thanks to what I tell you about this place and its workers, they canceled the visit. and turn them to other people. I do not recommend this place in absolut. without respect, ordinary

Dear visitor, We are getting back to you about your experience at our winery. We have to say we were very surprised to receive your comment as we've been open for visits for years and never got such negative feedback. To address your remarks, we need to know a little bit more about your visit : could you please tell us when you visited us – what day, and what time of the day ? This will help us find you in our booking system to understand what went wrong with your visit. We will be more than happy to welcome you again in the future and provide you with the best visiting experience. Best regards, Marine

Following some research my friends and I booked lunch in La Terrasse Rouge a La Dominique. We were unable to book the wine tasting due to availability however went for lunch as a backup... we were not disappointed.

The first thing that you notice is the location. The restaurant is in the middle of the vineyard in the heart of Saint-Emilion/Pomerol wine region. The view is everything you'd imagine.

The roof top terrace takes its name from the side structure which is a brilliant red along with the millions of small ruby red pebbles made of stone on the floor of the "jutty" - it's striking.

The food was incredible as was the wine. We ordered from the set menu, mainly as we didn't understood everything on the French 'La Carte' menu plus the set menu was a very reasonable price.

The waitstaff were very friendly and attentive to our requests and needs (which were minimal to be fair, but doesn't retract from the service).

After dinner, we visited the "gift shop" whereby we purchased several bottles of after being greeted by an incredibly helpful and knowledgable wine expert who gave us our own wine tasting experience.

My partner and I are planning our own trip and will return to La Dominique.
