The Jurisdiction of Saint-Emilion (including the town and the territory of the 8 villages united under the authority of the medieval Jurade) was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage in 1999 to preserve, restore and share this outstanding heritage! Covered in vines and bordered with rivers, along woody slopes and picturesque roads, the Jurisdiction of Saint-Emilion stretches out over 75 km² around a particularly well-preserved medieval town and is the ideal place to stay. Only 30 minutes from Bordeaux and 1h from Bergerac or Périgueux, Saint-Emilion is the perfect starting point to tour around the vineyards of Bordeaux and the Perigord district. Legend has it that the town bears the name of a Breton monk that performed miracles while living an exemplary life. In order to retire from social life, he settled in 750 in a natural grotto, which can still be visited nowadays in the heart of the town!

We came in the off season and this place was crowded (when it was open). Beautiful building, fancy place. A little confusing as which line to get into. Bought our tickets to the Monolithic Church tour here. Everything as expected.

WE entered this office with mixed feelings not sure what to expect. Inside we found a bottle shop selling wine and lots of information on St Emilion and the surrounding area. Very helpful staff as well.

Helpful, but limited advice was offered here. Perhaps, as we were at the end (or just past it) of the tourist season, there simply wasn't much to do.

Very helpful. They also speak english. We took the underground tour which is very interesting. It is only in French but the Tourism Office will give you the tour written in English and it is easy to follow.

This was a nicer than usual tourist office, with very helpful people. The walk down to it is slippery when wet!

The staff in the office were friendly and helpful with detailed information and personal recommendations. They were particularly helpful with tricky navigation when it comes to finding that small winery or hidden chateau. A professional and well run office (some toilets for all the visitors would be a nice thing!)

This is a useful tourist office with staff speaking many different languages, as indicated on their name badges. You can get the key to the monolithic church tower opposite and climb to the top (only 1 euro 50 and leave ID as deposit). They also have several walk and cycle tour maps but you have to ask for these. They... More
