A wine tasting tour to remember!
You should definitely visit this place if you are in the Saint Emilion area. We went there expecting a regular / standard wine tasting tour and when we started walking to the caves/tunnels we were like… ok, this is new! The guide not only gave us an explanation of the history of Chateau Franc Mayne, but she was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the region and explained to us in such detail everything that we saw in the limestone tunnels. I do not remember the name of our guide, but she was a girl that was in Napa for a little while, she was the nicest person.

    Magnifiques stay!
I’m not sure where to start this review as we’re leaving with such a warm heart and a feeling that we’ve lived beautiful moments in this Chateau. The location is absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking, a true gem nestled in the most picturesque surroundings. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by Pascale, whose friendly approach and warm smile made our check-in process so smooth. We arrived a bit earlier than 4 pm, which gave us the opportunity to start our holiday with an incredible wine tour provided by the Chateau. Having done wine tours before, this one stood out, it was not only lovely but also educational. The rooms are equally impressive, gorgeous, spacious, with comfortable beds and beautiful amenities. The chateau and its surroundings are simply stunning. There’s an incredible sense of being in a special place, yet it’s never overcrowded, giving you the feeling that you’ve rented the chateau all to yourself. Our two chihuahuas, Ella and Bailey were also warmly welcomed throughout our stay, which made the experience even more special for us as pet owners. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the breakfast experience. Rachel, our host, is the epitome of class, warmth, and hospitality. She puts love and care into everything she does, making the experience truly memorable. This has been one of the best B&B experiences we’ve ever had. If I had to sum up our stay in one word, it would be “magnifique.” Merci ❤️

My husband and I are big fans of Bordeaux wines and were really looking forward to the tour. We could not have been more disappointed. Our tour guide was new, he told us that it was a temporary job for 2 months and he started 2 weeks ago. He provided very little information about the winery or the wine making process. We spent the majority of the time in the limestone mine which would have been an interesting addition to the winery tour but not a replacement for it. Even in the mine, we pretty much just watched the light shows and read the posted signs. He even passed by the old crypt without acknowledging it until someone asked a question. While our guide encouraged questions, he could not really answer any of them.
To make matters worse, the guide’s English ( we booked a tour in English) was very limited. He kept stumbling on the words and much of what he said was difficult to understand. A complete waste of almost €50.

Each summer, our team uses an additional guide. Before entrusting the new guide with a visit, we train and accompany him/her before he/she handles the first visits. So far, we have had very good feedback. The person who led your tour had indeed been at Franc Mayne for two weeks, and she comes from the wine world. Visitor welcome and satisfaction remain our top priorities, and we are so sorry that you had a disappointing experience. If you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact our wine tourism manager, who will be happy to answer your questions. And if you come back to Saint-Emilion, we would be delighted to invite you to a new tasting. Have a nice summer and look forward to seeing you on another occasion in Saint-Emilion.

At first I can only recommend the tree house it offers a tool privacy and a super overview of the vines. Breakfast is great. All staff try extremely hard to make sure you can enjoy your stay!

Our tour of Chateau Franc Mayne delivered so much more than we were expecting! Not only did we tour the winery, but also the underground tunnels excavated long ago under the vineyard, which were amazing! We learned that a route on the Camino de Santiago runs through the vineyard and were able to walk a short distance on that, and also saw an ancient Roman road that similarly runs through the property. Our host Veronique was wonderfully knowledgeable and spent so much time explaining every aspect of the winemaking and the history of the chateau. Bravo Veronique! And the wine was great too! Highly recommend!

The wine tour is ok, the most special and interesting part was the underground tour. Wine testing was ok. It is a small winery with very good wine.

The tour was fantastic - visiting the limestone cave, cut by hand, having the perfect humidity and temperature was awesome. So informational about the terrior on the right bank. The wine was fantastic we walked away knowledgeable and tipsy :)

We really enjoyed our stay at Chateau Franc Mayne, a beautiful St Emilion Grand Cru classe winery, with 5 well appointed and charming 'Chambres d'Hotes'. The Winery is on a hill within a beautiful 20 minutes walk to incredible St Emilion. Our host (Charlotte) was welcoming and super helpful and recommended some wine tours and restaurants. All great recommendations. The winery is worth a visit, has got some great wines which are reasonably priced and is in the process of becoming a bio/organic winery. Cherry on the cake they serve the most delicious breakfast and have a small pool.

We did a tour and tasting here with our Uniworld river cruise group.

The gal who did the tour was really nice and we got to go underground to see the old mine which is also where they store barrels of wine that is fermenting. It was really neat to see and learn about the mine and to tour the grounds.

Although the wine we tasted was horrible. Not to mention that when the light shone on it I was surprised to see lots of sediment. Not nice.

Needless to day that I did not drink the rest of either wines and I did not buy anything.
