Thirty years ago I was living in Recife and decided to take a girl visiting from Holland to Gaibu.
What a fantastic place to spend a phenomenal afternoon! Back then the whole area, including Porto de Galinhas, was very isolated. Took some photos that I have to look for I think my ex-wife found them and destroyed theml

It is worth enjoying Gaibu Beach for a day for all tourists. This beach is about 16 Kms from Recife and has a good view in surroundings with tasty grilled fish varieties.

Loving people everywhere, nice family nightlife. Make sure you try the pizza place! The beach itself wakes up early due to the time zone location, at times at 4 in the morning the sun comes up.

Gaibu is a good beach, like the others in Cabo, but the tourism structure is zero. Gaibu, for example, has no alternative restaurants, other than the one at the guesthouse we stayed at (Namoa), bars and shops in general. The beaches are far from the center and the most "recommended" restaurants are in almost inaccessible places due to poor access. Alleys that look more like trails and everything is full of holes. No Uber accepts rides. You have to count on the good will of a taxi driver and pay 5 times more, or you will always eat in the same place. Almost half an hour to cover a 4 km stretch. The only day I managed to go out I had the bad luck of going to that Bar do Doido. Horrible food and terrible looking restaurant. A waste for the place, which is very cute.
It's not even close to Porto de Galinhas, or other places in the Northeast. It has a lot of ground to cover before it can be considered touristic and be a travel choice

This was one of the most pristine beach areas south of Recife decades before Porto de Galinhas became a tourist destination. It has been destroyed by over building and huge crowds of day tourists. In 1968 I camped on the beach for my first Carnaval. Now, you can't find a calm spot at any point. I was appalled at the open sewers and filth of the urban area in my recent visits. The only nice place is above it on the high point that separates Gaibu beach from Calhetes Beach. There you have a great view and even a nice inn to relax and have a simple meal. But, nothing attracts me to the beach except fond memories of 45 years ago.

This beach is good, but across little mountain has a wonderful beach called calhetas, that is so small beach, but so great, with an great restaurant. Just try it. Hard to get to it, but you can drive to it or walk from gaibu, if u go up the rock, but very hot to walk on foot.

Crowded beach, a lot of dirt, no reasonable restaurants or bars whatsoever. Many stalls selling food without due hygiene care. Health surveillance has gone a long way. The beach stinks of sewage. We were extorted in the parking lot, they charged us 150 reais for staying 20 minutes (maximum time we could last in the place). When we questioned the absurd charge, we were threatened with stones and a piece of wood. Run away from this place.

Beautiful beach located in
one of the locations of the wonderful Cape of Santo Agostinho region located about 24 km from Recife.
Simple but very hospitable.
Unfortunately, the sea bath is impaired by the mess of a canal that is very dirty in the right corner of the beach, part attached to the rocky wall.
Prefer to bathe in the central region from the reefs.

A good beach but it is not so clean, has good waves, the problem is to see sewage in the open sky on the beach, could be one of the best beaches in PE, a pity.
