Coastal Kayak is the most experienced rental, tour and instructional business at the beach - since 1994. Coastal Kayak rents kayaks, Stand up paddle boards, and sailboats. They also offer guided kayak & Paddle board tours to all areas of Delmarva including the back bays of Rehoboth Beach, Bethany Beach and Assateague Island. Coastal Kayak also offers instruction from ACA certified instructors in both kayaking and paddle boarding. In addition CK is a certified "Pro School" of the American Canoe Association. CK has over 125 kayaks, 50 paddle bords and 6 catamaran sailboats all available for rent directly from their bayside beach rental location.

This is a great trip. My wife, son in law and myself went on the Little Assawoman Back Bay tour and everyone enjoyed themselves. My wife had never kayaked before and our guide Justin was very reassuring. My wife and I chose a tandem and I sat in the back because I was experienced. The tour lasted 1 1/2 hours which was just long enough. We kept a good pace, no one was left behind, and we saw quite a bit of wildlife. I had used Coastal Kayak on an Outer Banks vacation and when I saw they were near Ocean City, MD, I booked immediately. This is a very well run outfit with quality name kayaks and gear and their rental fees are very reasonable. I have kayaked myself for over 25 years and own two kayaks. I would not book with any other outfitter

LOVE THIS PLACE! Thank you Mitch for the wonderful Hobie sailboat lesson yesterday. Weather was wonderful, the experience was fabulous and you were patient and super structured in your instruction that gave us some basic beginner clarity on sailing on the Hobie. I have been to this wonderful place to rent kayaks with friends and family over the last 6 years (and I have brought small groups of 10-12 for excursions with this company) and we have always had a 100% top notch experience. I have referred many who have never kayaked to go to Coastal Kayak and they have reported a wonderful first time experience. A++++++

Absolutely the best Kayak tours and company in the area. My husband and I did 2 trips with Coastal Kayaks, with Bob as our guide. Bob was fun, knowledgeable about the area, the birds, all the wildlife, and helpful in every way. Bob immediately recognized that we were experienced kayakers and respected us as such. We will be back!! These tours would also be fun, safe and interesting for a family with kids 6 and older. Coastal also has better quality kayaks than other tour companies we saw in the area.

We rented 2 tandem kayaks for multiple days, and had a great time kayaking in the canals and Salt Pond. We loved seeing all the Herons, including the smaller Green Herons.
I made a number of last minute changes to my rental plans, and Coastal Kayak was very responsive in adjusting, and making the plans work out. What struck me most was the very helpful and supportive email exchanges....... their staff never seemed to have any attitude, so I didn't end up feeling like I was bothering them with changes.
I would definitely use them again, and rent kayaks for multiple days in Bethany Beach.

This is my favorite activity when visiting the area! I have gone on 3 different tours which were all awesome. I have visited the main location several time to rent both kayaks and paddle boards. Fun whether you are with your family or alone.

We skimmed across the bay as Captain Mitch talked about the wildlife, the bay area and sailing. We found the tour educational, relaxing and entertaining. As our time was coming to a close, the wind picked up and we experienced a faster ride which was also fun.

Coastal Kayak always provides fantastic tours. Every single guide has been extremely knowledgeable, professional, and tons of fun. We very strongly recommend Coastal Kayak to anyone interested in a lovely tour whether you are a beginner or advanced.

Took the "Kayak Strokes 101" course, as I had only had one previous kayaking experience. Our guide, Todd, was very thorough in his explanations, and gave us ample time to practice on the water. We had a good amount of time paddling both a sit-on-top kayak and a sit-in recreational kayak. Being a native of the area, Todd also shared some local history, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Given the length of the session and the price, I found it to be a great value and would recommend it to anyone who is vacationing in the area.

We inquired about renting a sailboat. The woman replied its too windy(not overly which is exactly how you want it to be to sail). My husband has been sailing all his life starting with his military career father. He tried to explain he has a lot of experience including his own 38 foot sailboat which he even sailed alone along with racing, etc over the past 50 years. She had the nerve to give him attitude and say yeah yeah everybody has experience and then they run the boats up onto the beach. She wouldn't let him speak and kept talking over him repeatedly and very condescendingly. We will never give them our business. Too many other places who would at least have the courtesy to speak to us with respect when trying to explain their rules.

The Burton's Island Wildlife Tour was fantastic! We've kayaked several times but for some reason, the Coastal Kayaks were the most comfortable and easiest to use. Maybe it was the adjustable footrests, the seats with backrests, or the paddles, whatever it was, we were comfortable the whole time. Our guide showed us way more than we would have seen on our own. We'll absolutely recommend Coastal Kayak tours!

Hi Nancy, we have a minimum age of 7 for going on a guided tour. For rentals however we don't have any age restrictions. We also have renta kayaks that you can fit 1 adult and two kids or two adults and one small child in the middle. Thanks, MM

Sorry, just saw this but for future reference you do not need reservations for any of our rentals. We only take reservations for guided tours. With over 80 paddle boards and 150 kayaks we don't usually run out of anything. You might consider calling to check conditions if you are planning on renting a stand up paddle board.Thanks, MM

We do an eco tour with Coastal Kayak almost every year as a family. There are normally 6-8 of us that go out. This year, 2 of us have our own kayaks but would still like to join a tour. Are we able to take out our own and pay a fee for the guided tour? Thanks!

HI, we do allow tour participants to use their own kayaks if they would like. The price for the tour is the same whether you use your kayaks or ours. We do have a wide variety of kayaks available such as touring kayaks, sit-on-tops and recreational kayaks for use on tours. We typically use Wilderness Systems Pungos for tours but the others are available by request. For some of our tours you could meet us at the launch spot and for other tours you would need to meet us a little in advance so that we could load your kayak on our trailer. Thanks!
