The grounds are volcanic and therefore recommended to walk with some type of shoes. Pretty spot. Didn't try to go into the water. We didn't see entry points where we were. But there were plenty of people fishing [although we did not see anyone watching...More

A few Divi's, a few palapas, a little sand and a rocky bottom, but a good snorkeling spot if you can avoid the party boat traffic.

Excellent snorkelling here right from shore. A little rocky entering but that’s why all the fish are here. Smaller beach but worth the visit for the snorkeling or just to watch the pelicans put on a show!

Took taxi from Barcelo to beach. Spent a few hours snorkeling with our own gear. This is the same sport the tour boats come to. You can almost walk out to the boats. Not too deep, in most places. Super clear water- bring a bit...More

Best variety of fish this trip. Small beach but everyone fits in cozy. Adequate parking and there is some shade.

My husband and I had a great time snorkelling here one afternoon, at the cove at the south end of Catalina. The water was remarkably calm and clear, and fish were plentiful, including huge clouds of those tiny silver fish that swim in unison (we...More

Nice little beach excellent for snorkelling, we usually went out in the early morning before the boat tours would arrive. Had the best success in spotting a wide variety of fish and turtles.

Small but nice beach, great little family hangout place without any amenities. Nice beginner snorkeling area, see a ton of fish. Decent area for beachcombing too if you're loking for smaller shells.

There is so much to see here. I could snorkel all day and go so far. So much coral and walls to watch. Fish are really curious and friendly. Saw lobsters, eels and every color of fish. We were looking for octopus but no luck...More

We were dropped a off by Arusun to explore. The snorkeling was great seeing coral and many beautiful fish. This place is shallow so you can also go from the shore.

Yes. We joked that we could’ve used uber instead of the catamaran tour and done the whole thing much cheaper. It’s not the best snorkeling. Mostly rocks and some brain coral. Lots of fish tho.

No, you will need to bring your own everything. Boca Catalina is just a rocky shoreline with a few spots to park, and beautiful places to snorkel.

I actually asked on the beach, there is a kiosk where they organise boat tours. I think you can have some information about private cruises. Another way to know everything is to ask to the big resorts' reception; in every... More

Boca Catalina is about a 15-20 minute taxi ride from the port (downtown.)
8 hours in Aruba- what to do? (2 Replies)
Hi there, I know this question is in the pinned posts, but I didn't see anything current, so we would like some advice, please. Coming in on a cruise 8-4 with 3 adults and 3 teens- 17, 16, and 13. We would like to chill at the beach, snorkel, and maybe grab a bite. So far, it looks like our best option for beach time is Eagle Beach? Snorkeling seems to be the best at Boca Catalina? Also heard about Nikky and CocoLoco Beach Bar. Any suggestions for us? Thank you!

I have only been once, so hopefully a DE will weigh in. But, I think with teens you may prefer the high rise area of Palm Beach. There were several places to rent umbrellas and chairs, and vendors renting out jet skis etc. Bugaloe’s is a casual open air restaurant/bar on a pier between the Divi and Hilton which would be a good lunch spot. Another idea is to do a snorkel excursion if your time frame allows. Sailaway and Jolly Pirates both have rope swings, which I know my teens would love...More

My wife and I got up around 7 am and snorkeled at Boca Catalina. We like to get out before the tour boats arrive, and sometimes we see a turtle or two. Visibility was still really poor, but sea creatures of note included a flounder, sea snake, and several French angel fish. After breakfast we spent the morning lounging in or around the pool. On our two previous visits to Oceania, we pretty much had the pool to ourselves, and I was pleased that this was still the case. After lunch, we all...More
