- Elise GHudson River Valley, New York1,299 contributionsWas I dreaming?Dreamy! That is the word! What a delight it was to explore the Conchi Pools! I know that many take tours there. If one drives in by a jeep is the easier route. We chose to hike the 2.5 miles from the Rancho Parking area, which I prefer. Walking along the east coast, passing various beaches was well worth the effort. It gave me a sense of the landscape, which is truly extraordinary. The coastal trail offers views of a much rougher coast than the west coast. The coral cliffs were like no other. Another benefit to hiking in is that we were not on a timeline. We could enjoy the pools for as long or short as we wanted. To this end, there were periods of time that we had the pools to ourselves. That is where, “dreamy” comes in. It really doesn’t get much better than being alone, floating and snorkeling in such a natural treasure. After the main pool, I encourage you to do a bit of climbing a smaller pool that is like a hot tub! This area is part of the Arikok National Park. One can purchase a park pass from one of two locations (the visitor center or the south entrance). To get to the parking area, one needs to drive out of the park, and then back in. Things to bring: lots of drinking water for the hike, water shoes to make it easier, snorkel and mask to enjoy the sea life. If hiking, proper footwear is necessary (no flip-flops or flimsy sandals). Spending time both hiking into the Conchi Pool and luxuriating in the pools is a wonderful way to experience Aruba away from the concrete jungles of the resorts, condominiums and hotels.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 5, 2024
- Audrey CMercer Island, Washington21 contributionsAmazing place with amazing views and wavesI would recommend anyone who is healthy enough to walk down 20-40 stairs up and down should come here. This was absolutely gorgeous and been my favorite thing to do in Aruba. If you do not have a 4x4 car you will not be able to drive yourself and will need to take a tour or utv tour. Apple Maps took us to the wrong spot when looking up the natural pool, make sure to look up Arikok visitor center and they will give you a map of how to get to the natural pool!Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 14, 2024
- Matt ROntario, Canada35 contributionsNeat placeThis is a neat spot. Almost impossible to find on your own. Do not recommended getting there on your own. No maps and no signs to help you as well as the GPS took us everywhere except the road to the pool. Once there it was fun but pay the tour operators and bit the bullet.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 4, 2024
- Hari SNew York City, New York22 contributionsFamily beach/water funTough ride (no UTVs & certainly no regular cars or SUVs! Only high clearance 4 x 4 like Jeep). At least 45 min very bumpy ride to & same back. But worth it to see the cool natural pool (water splashing from rocks!). Good snorkeling. But beware of the ride & plan enough time (some parts of the road nit clearly marked too). Enter via Arikok.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 22, 2024
- Gracenava78 contributionsNot easy to get to but worth a visitThis natural pool is within Arakok National Park and only accessible by an off road vehicle or horseback. Keep in mind you need a 4x4, $15/pp to get in to the park, and ascend and descend about 97 steps. I recommend a sport shoe such as tevas or at least a water shoe. The rocks are slippery.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 28, 2024
- Susan J8 contributionsGreat day in the ParkWe rented a Jeep so we could make the drive. When we got to the pool there were a couple groups in the pool. So it was crowded but after about 30 minutes the groups left and we had it to ourselves for over and hour. It was great. There was a park employee there the whole time.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 6, 2024
- FamilycitybreaksLondon, United Kingdom26 contributionsMake sure you have good mobilityGreat experience once you are in the pool. If your guide has fish food and they throw it in and you have snorkel gear the fish are amazing to see. Different colours and sizes. I would just note though if you are older or have any back/walking issues maybe sit this one as they drive towards it from the national park is crazy. We had two children nearly vomiting due to the road. Also when you get there the walk to the pool is down quite a bit of steps and is steep in time. Lastly into the pool it is very slippery with algae so you really have to concentrate to get in and get out.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 7, 2024
- travelbug1717Bourne, Massachusetts73 contributionsBecome one with 4 wheel drive :)The Conchi natural pool and the surrounding area are gorgeous! As others have mentioned, you definitely need 4-wheel drive and to know how to use it. The “road” to Conchi is about 5 km. It is very rocky and steep in many places but it is a superb adventure!! When you arrive, it is well worth it! There are many steps (some rock, some concrete) leading down to the beach-type area (not swimmable) and then you have to climb over rocks to get into the pool. The water is gorgeous. Wear water shoes with good tread. When we were there, the ocean was crashing all around the surrounding rocks and over them into the pool. It’s incredible! Bring lots of water and snacks to refuel during this fantastic experience!Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 16, 2024

We came here on a jeep tour and got here in mid afternoon. The place was totally packed with a line over the slippery rocks to get into the pool and the pool itself was like a bowl of wonton soup, filled with people all bumping into each other. No doubt this would be a nice place to visit and swim when less crowded but as it was it was not pleasant. So choose you timing more carefully, morning is probably better and if you could avoid being here at the same time as large group tours. From the parking lot there are about 90 steps growing down to the rocky beach. Best to wear water shoes - would make it much easier getting in and out of the pool on the slippery rocks.

I HIGHLY recommend going with a guide / tour unless you are very experienced with off-roading. It is not easy to get to. From where you park there is a long staircase down to the natural pool. It’s somewhat difficult if you have mobility issues (uneven steps, etc).
At the pool itself you can leave a towel , etc on some rocks but there is no formal place to leave anything. I recommend leaving what you can in the car.
To enter the pool itself you need to climb over a lot of slippery rocks. Definitely wear tevas or water shoes.
Within the pool there are lots of fish to see. I recommend snorkels or goggles.
The pool is deep in the middle and the swimming was not easy. This is not for young kids. A wave came in when I was there and threw a girl outside of the pool (she was ok).
I liked going with a tour because they would advise if it was too dangerous to swim. I recommend ABC tours if you choose a tour.

My husband I did not rent a 4 x 4 vehicle but we wanted to visit the Conchi Natural Pool without buying a tour so we hiked from the Arikok Visitor Center to the pool and back! We are decent hikers and this hike was tougher than expected. There were some hills to climb and it was very rocky. We wore hiking/water sandals (TEVAs) which may have been part of the difficulty instead of closed toed shoes. We had a cloudy day which was perfect for hiking in the heat, I'm sure it would have been more difficult with the sun beating down on us. Bring plenty of water and snorkeling gear to swim in the pool! Aruba was not crowded in general due to COVID but we were the ONLY ones on the hike to and from the pool, taking about 1.5 hours each way. There were others at the pool who drove to a closer area and also others on horseback tours. The pool was small but had some pretty fish and the lifeguard was very friendly and helpful at showing us the leg of a hidden octopus.

We rented a Jeep (don’t rent from Thrift Car Rental) and completed a self guided tour off the island in one day. Natural Pools was the last stop but the 30 min train ride was difficult. Remember you’ll need to purchase a entry pass at the park gate…under 18 is free.

It takes a bit of logistical planning to get there. No matter how you plan to get to the pool, you must stop and buy a reasonably priced ticket to the entire park. From there, you could walk in theory. From what I understand, it is a 3.5-mile walk. From what I know, it is a desert, very rocky, and pretty steep to get to, so...( if you decide to walk, please do not take your kids. It would be horrible for them and make them hate trekking for life) I rented a 4x4 vehicle, so I drove there, but I saw 4x4 capable tours that can get you there too. Anyway, this pool is a hidden gem. From where you park, you will need to walk down some stairs, so even if you drive there, it is not going to be accessible by those unable to walk easily on their own. I highly recommend water shoes (I did not have them, but I will next time) because you have to climb over some rocks actually to enter the pool. I recommend, after entering the pool swimming to the ledge opposite and jumping from the rocks into the pool. It was a great ride up there as well, but there is an entire park that I recommend you see in addition to this pool, so save this for last so you can cool off before driving back to your hotel.

Please don’t use the short hike from Daimari without first paying for admission at the NP office and getting the yellow wrist band. There is now a ranger stationed at the pool who’s job it is to check for that, and we saw him be badly verbally abused by a tourist for disallowing him from entering from Daimari without a band. The ranger, who was a really good guy, was very upset for having been harangued (with profanity) and threatened for doing his job.
The pool was a little disappointing, to be honest, after having done a lot of snorkeling elsewhere. Just a novelty, and probably only good with a lower tide.

We went this week(5/2/2023) to the pool. we went via a open jeep tour ( more on that in another review). First of to get to the pool, it is a HIKE! Either by foot or by 4WD (ONLY). Your kidney and neck from the whiplash will be feeling it. You can only get there via off road vehicles. Once there it is about a 100 rock steps down to the area. Due to the windy season( March thru August) they are having right now the surf there was extremely rough. And since the pool is surrounded by sharp lava rocks and you have to climb into it, make sure you can hike, climb and are in shape. The warning the tours companies give you are no joke. This is NOT a walk into the pool from the beach situation as i thought it would be. I'm in fairly decent shape except for my knee's and I opted not to try. There was no snorkeling as the surf had the water churned up pretty good so you could not see anything anyway. And there was about 25 people in it. when we go back I will visit it again because the scenery around it is cool. The best time to try I would say would be August thru October. The water color is beautiful though and the temperature is kind perfect, not too hot and not too cold. There are also some really cool tide pools there. So I do recommend going just don't be too bummed if it isn't what you expected. The hike it IF you are an avid experienced hiker would be great. Lots of landscape stuff to see and an easy challenge.

This is a favorite stop for many tours of the island. We rented a 4x4 and drove here on our own, so we could spend as much time as we wanted. The steps down/up from the pool to the parking area can be rough, especially if you're out of shape, but they're obviously working on building better steps to this area and their work should make this better for everyone in the future! Getting to the pool itself can be tricky. The rocks are very slick and jagged. If you don't have tough feet, I'd recommend water shoes. There are some cool smaller fish that are within the pool and often some waves will crash over the rocks adding to the excitement of the spot. It is a natural pool, but don't assume it's shallow. The water is certainly deep in a few spots (probably 10-12'). Worth the trip!

This is a wonderful spot that’s not filled with tourists. Hard to get too which means it’s un spoilt. Wooden ladder to access the pool. Would not recommend if you have any back issues, knee issues or anything else that may hamper you from jumping 6 feet into a shallow sand bottom pool. The coral rocks are quite slippery and have to be negotiated in and out. That being said it’s a very beautiful spot.

It’s a really great experience but I would really recommend taking a tour because it’s really rough roads. You will need to be an experienced off roader. Just looking at the trails, it’s probably easy to get lost.
Hit up ABC tours because we had an aMaxing time with them and ask for uncle Johnny.

How long is the trail to the natural pool?
Written July 13, 2023
Hi,
We are going to Aruba next September and would love to visit the Natural Pool. How do you recommend we visit it? Should we go with a tour? Which tour do you suggest?
Thanks a lot for your help
Written July 22, 2021
Hi, certainly to take a tour is the best way. Getting there is almost impossible if you are not a local. I believe whichever tour is available is perfect, as long as they include a stop of at least 1 hour there

Do any of the small ATV (one or two seaters) go to Natural Pool? All of the ones I'm researching go to the "Cave Pool" which is different. A little annoying, they try to make it sound and look like they are going to natural pool by using the photo of natural pool but saying cave pool or "cave natural pool."
Thanks!

We parked the car just at the foot of the stone road up to Sero Arikok. There is a wooden sign Conchi, this is where the trail starts from that point. We left the car there. We hiked up and down following the red wooden posts. Not visible at all times, but when you know the lay of the park you know more or less the direction. Bring water along, the best is a Camelbak with water bladder. Good shoes, sunburn and protection for your neck. If you hike a lot it should be no problem, but water is a must. It took us approx 1,5 hour to get there. Take the same trail back! 14.698 steps, 80 floors in total.

Do you realize that feeding fish bread is an environmental hazard? Thought you were concerned since you mentioned the impact an atv can have. Google it, bread is bad.
Written July 18, 2019
You should not feed anything on land or sea anything..its great to see all the new animals and fish. But unless you fully understand the animals digestion system then do not feed them. I travel and drive alot. And see this very often with animals on land and in sea. And it is a no no! There are always signs do not feed they are there for a reason!!

Hello, I'm visiting Aruba in the fall for my honeymoon. I hear the natural pool is a must see. I have a couple of questions:
1. How bad is the drive there? I've had some experience driving in rocky terrain quite a bit no problem but obviously i dont do it for a living lol
2. Who has the best jeep rentals in terms of cost and quality? I'm sure an ATV or utv is probably the way to go but I'm not sure if it'll be in the budget. The Jeep would be our daily driver down there as well.
Written May 14, 2019
I'd say there's no way you can make it safely from the park entrance without a Jeep or ATV/UTV. We were there this spring, and opted to hike from Daimari Beach. A 2WD Kia Sportage will get you there, and that's a cheap rental at the airport. Not sure about a car. Google Earth Trekkers for Daimari Beach to Natural Pool instruction. The write up there is spot-on. Internet access is almost non-existent on that route, so I'd recommend saving the instructions for offline use along the way.
Once you can see the horse ranch at the top of the hill, PARK! You can't make it down that hill without a serious machine.
This hike is absolutely beautiful, and the pool is pretty cool. The whole family enjoyed the experience. Have a great trip!

Idealmente ir en UTV.

Hi, Susanne. What would you like to know about this attraction? Hi, I'd like to know how difficult it is to get around the island on your own (Jeep). Would you recommend a tour guide?
Written March 18, 2018
If you are in to extreme driving and exploration, go ahead and rent a AWD or 4WD SUV and get a park map. But if you are not a very strong driver I would highly suggest getting a guided tour. The roads are not maintained at all in the National Park and we saw several people abandon their vehicles to walk instead of driving. In my honest opinion, save yourself the trepidation and hire a guided tour.
