we went to explore on market day and it was for sure the best market that we went to whilst in the area. The downside of the market was that it was less easy to get a feel for the historic square... The market rambled...More

We watched with great interest as our crepes were made, and sat under the covered area to eat. A rainstorm swooped in and we watched the rain as the little children ran around in the rain in the square laughing and dancing. Then the rain...More

Anyone who comes to Mirepoix really has to visit the square with or without the famous Monday market. The arcades are famous for the wonderful ancient carvings of different faces. They have been well preserved and are a remarkable feature which attracts much attention. Beneath...More

Place des Couverts means a covered area. It is located in the main square, which is of Bastide design. It is delightful and the market sells food. The restaurants and shops surround the square and the atmosphere and ambiance is second to none.

Take a walk in this little haven of a square in the re-laid out town of Mirepoix after flooding in the 14th century. Lots of well preserved and interesting houre-fronts to see, with a modest church off to one side.

We weren't going to stop although we had read positive reviews. Glad we did as the medieval covered square is excellent. Check out the carved heads at the Maison des consuls, beautifully preserved after 600 years.

Built in the 14th C after a flood destroyed the old town, this is a sweet little square of old painted buildings. There are several places around the square for coffees, food, ices. Prices are slightly high and the place has a slightly precious air...More

The centre of the town is built around a square with the cathedral forming one limb and all others bound to form a timber framed system of arcades, where shops, bars and restaurants lurk.
