The best view is from across the street only. Once you go closer the area is not actually inviting and we just ended walking ahead.

This mosque is actually not the largest mosque in Stone Town. However it is in Malindi which is a bustling area near the center of Stone Town. Access to the mosque is not quite simple. Worth a visit.
