We arrived at low tide. It was very interesting to see the giant tortoises. We also saw a small antelope. Its a pity that plastic bottles spoil the pristine environment.

Prison Island is very pretty but to be absolutely honest, unless you have never seen Giant tortoises before, the best part about the tour is the boat ride. We had a fabulous guide and he went out of his way to explain the history of...More

We took a boat from Stone Town - Forodhani Beach. Loads of boat men will be around and you may need to bargain the rates with them to take you to Prison Island and bring you back. Once there, you pay the entry, do not...More

I didn't see anything prison-related other than the building (is there more?) but just being able to be around 100 year old giant tortoises was enough! So cool to imagine them being around over 100 years ago and they are huge! Great fun for kids!

There is an additional small charge to go around the island to see the tortoises etc. No charge for the snorkelling.
