Beautiful Temple
Jul 2021
A bit off the beaten path, this temple is quite lovely on the inside. Although you are supposedly allowed to take pictures (when there is no service), the temple keeper refused to allow pictures to be taken. Do visit, but don't expect a warm welcome.

Small Hindu Temple
Nov 2018
This small Hindu Temple it's located in the centre of Stone Town.
It's not particularly impressive but as it is in the centre and you can visit it quite quickly it's suggested to make a short visit to this temple.

Definitely worth a visit seeing it's the only Hindu Temple in Zanzibar
Oct 2018 • Couples
Our guide took us to the temple as he knew we were hindu. It was a nice surprise, nestled in the quiet streets of Stone Town behind closed doors. The temple was not being used when we got there so we had it all to ourselves except the man cleaning the floors. There is a lot of bird poop, so watch your step. All the idols are locked behind gates but you still get a feel for the beauty and simplicity of the temple in a place that's very poor.

Nestled in the middle of the bustling streets

We certainly did not expect to find this old Hindu temple while walking through the streets of Zanzibar. It is small and bit run down but worth oking your nose in for five minutes.

This is a fairly old Hindu Temple
Sep 2017 • Couples
I think this temple is about 100 years old. It have various Hindu God statues. I think that it is NOT well looked after and there were many pigeons in the veranda. The floor was covered with pigeon droppings. To get near the God statues you have to take your shoes off (be aware of the bird droppings)

Namaste Zanzibar
May 2017 • Friends
Namaste and greetings to all. As you enter the temple doors you are greeted by all the Gods - Lord Ganesha was to the left and Lord Hanuman was to the right as I entered. The deities are neatly locked away as the temple was not open or a service when we visited. A gentleman was cleaning and I stood there silently observing and saying my own prayer filled with love and gratitude that I can be standing in the small temple in a remote street in Zanzibar! Whoever would have thought. It is worth visiting the temple if you are walking through the many mazes of Stone Town.

A Indian temple to visit and feel a bit of peace. You have many idols and it is your faith and belief that makes your visit worth it or not! For me it was good to see and visit something having seen in India.

Quite peaceful
Jan 2016 • Family
Quite peaceful, this small temple in the narrow street of Zanzibar shows the influences of Indians being blessed to worship in the great land.

This Hindu place of worship is located in the heart of Stone Town. There are regular Aartis and Prayers and free food served.

Your regular Hindu temple
Sep 2015 • Friends
Not sure why this is a tourist attraction. It's a regular Hindu temple with Hindu gods and goddesses. Given the huge influence of Indians in Zanzibar, I'd expect a lot more temples, but anyway, this is an average temple. It can be definitely skipped unless (1) you have never seen an Hindu temple before, or (2) you need to pray in front of a deity.
