This is a unique set up that allows you stay at a marine research centre with Mozambican and foreign staff, researchers and interns. Accommodation is simple but comfortable (single and double bunk rooms using shared showers and toilets) and tasty no-frills meals are eaten communally, so you get plenty of opportunity to talk to people working there. Activities we did included joining a beach clean-up and snorkelling, but there is also a dive centre ad most days they do dives, often to remote reefs not visited by most commercial operators. The centre is set back 50m from a lovely swimming beach and wildlife includes the localised an normally shy suni antelope. Overall it is a friendly, unpretentious and comfortable set-up suited to serious divers who are not looking for luxury and want to explore the more remote reefs of the Bazaruto Archipelago.
