We've been on two unforgettable fishing trips with Alain and his crew mates. First time in January 2016 we hooked a 60 kg yellow-fin Tuna at sunrise, and it took us three hours of intense fighting to bring it aboard. Second time in December 2021 we didn't expect to beat that, so we just booked a relaxed afternoon trip. After four hours of uneventful trolling, surrounded by dolphins and a blue wale, we were satisfied and decided to return back. Then big surprise - the fishing rod bent heavily! Thirty minutes later, we could bring a sailfish aboard - looking even mightier than the Tuna in the evening sun!

My dad and I are always looking to fit in a fishing trip on our holidays. And we have booked charters in places like Indonesia, Mexico, Malaysia, Florida Keys etc. The fishing is usually a) incredibly expensive b) starts late in the day, and more like a tour than real fishing c) not authentic.
La Rochelle Fishing is by far the best, most authentic and most likely chance you will have of getting into some fish. I called Alaine after nearly getting scammed triple the price for a shorter fishing trip by some beach boys. Alaine was friendly, accommodating and best of all wanted us to be at the boat by 4:30 am. I think this guys loves fishing more than anyone we had fished with before.
For the price, dont expect a luxury air-conditioned sport fishing boat - then again I have no idea why some people go fishing if thats what they do expect. The boat is outfitted with 2 outboards, and life jackets, Rods, reels and lures. Just bring your own drinks and snacks. Also, we never got back to the harbour on time, as in there was never a rush to go back in, making sure we had the best time on the water was the priority of the boat!
At the end of the trip, we booked again for two days later - unfortunately not more as our wives were going to give us grief. In two days we had landed over 5 good quality yellow fin tuna and wahoo. And had dropped a couple as well. Apparently this was the slow season, and yet was some of the best fishing i had ever experienced. Typically the boats keep the fish, but Alaine gave us some tuna and wahoo to cook, and it was delicious.
Id highly recommend La Rochelle for your trip our fishing.

What a great day beeing out in the sea, enjoying the sunrise reflecting in the kings blue water, the dorades and tuna's are hunting our bates. Just a unique fishing experience with the local professional fisher man Alain Marie Jeanne from La Rochelle Peche au gros (Mauritius).
Having left the harbour at 3:30 a.m. in the mornging, equipped with 2 indepentent boat engine, GPS, Radio, full safety kit, returned at 11:00 a.m. with a boat full of thuna, bonite, two big dorado fishes and a 115 pound blue marlin. An unforgettable day. Thank you Alain!

Awesome day out. Highly knowledgeable, passionate team. Definitely recommend!
Went out for a half day with Alain. Despite not ideal conditions we still managed to catch 2 nice sized dorado in 2 hours. Alain is keen to try different types of fishing to match conditions and ensure a catch.

Spent a great morning fishing with Alain and his crew mate. Early pick up at 5am right outside the hotels beach front and then 40 min to an hour getting to the fishing site in the darkness. Started trolling and quickly picked up a mahi mahi, fantastic seeing it jumping reeling it in!
At the end of the morning came back with the mahi mahi, two yellowfin tuna and 7 bonito. Had three or four few bonito get off the line as well...
The boat is not huge sport fishing one and has no amenities on it but for what I was looking for was perfect and the price more than reasonable. Just bring along a drink and something to snack on.
Both Alain and his crew mate (sorry forgot his name) very friendly and professional. Recommended!

This was our first time on a fishing trip and unfortunately this company did not meet our high expectations/excitement.
Booking was quite difficult with very sporadic and vague communication with Alain himself.
I asked if we could go a little later than the usual 6am departure and was assured it would be no problem - only later did we learn that there are no fish if you go later (and unfortunately we did not catch anything at all).
The boat itself is extremely small and bare - there are simple bench seats, lack of shading and no amenities at all. The Captain and helper were not friendly at all/did not share any information - and they spent the entire time in the boat smoking.
The "included drinks" are limited in quantity and hot (no cooler).
This company is clearly made for those who are serious fishers/want to go sit on a simple bench with no drinks/food/music and fish. You are looking to have a fun fishing experience, I would highly suggest you dish out a little more money and get a proper yacht/full-serviced experience.

An early 4:20 launch from Trou aux Biches, Alaine took myself, my wife and 15 year old daughter out to the open beautiful waters of Mauritius. Alaine and his assistant amazed us with their navigational skills in the dark. Arriving at the spot and after a couple of quick bait changes and tactics, we were soon very busy reeling in tuna after tuna... Thanks Alaine for a wonderful experience, 15 tunas on a morning shift were well worth it!!

Captain Alain....is the Skipper you want when targeting Yellow Fin Tuna and other Pelagic.
We left at 04:30 for an epic day half day fishing. Seeing Alain for who he is and how passionate he takes his fishing was a confidence booster of note. He knows what he’s doing and helps you with solid advice when hooked up.
I was talking to Alain about Yellow Fin Tuna and listening to his past experiences fighting and catching Tuna....and BOOM the line was screaming Yellow Fin and my heart dropped....after 35-40 Minutes he was brought aboard.....mission Complete.
If you want to experience true fishing for what it is and have a good fishing experience with Epic fights then look no further cause Alain is your man.
Thank you Alain for all your effort very much appreciated.
All the best Captain...
Grant.
