About
Since our inception in 1994, we have grown from a small boutique bar to the number one nightlife venue on the island for locals & tourists alike. The incredible Flamboyant tree in the middle of the bar was planted many years ago and has enjoyed its vantage from a mere twig to a towering icon of Grand Bay. Being at the heart of activity in the north, we do not doubt the stories it could tell... Since our ownership in 2003, it was our vision to rejuvenate the music scene and transform our venue into "The Place" in Mauritius for live music. Now, every night music from jazz, blues, rock to fusion is performed. If you wish to just chill out and enjoy the cool island vibes or see top local groups perform, you are in the right place. Double very expensive (550 rupees) no ice Jack Daniels whiskey was mixed with water. Asked if that was normal and the explanation was that there was probably water in the glass as it had been washed.They replaced it by using another bottle under the counter, a little better this time.The banana beach cocktail is very sweet and has no alcohol at all. In this one we had to add water to be able to drink it. One of our friends had a mojito and said that was the worst he had ever had.What can I say, we were very hydrated.Never again!

We are sorry to hear that your experience with us wasn’t as we would’ve liked it to be.
However, we do feel that part of your comment is unfair.
Our prices match those of other bars in the area. Yet, we are the only place that provides live music and a DJ Monday-Saturday without entrance fees. We have to be able to pay for those performances somehow.
The “Banana Beach”, as stated in the description of the cocktail contains fresh banana and banana liqueur, strong flavoured and sweet, it covers the additional dosage of ruhm in the cocktail. For the mojito, we’re surprised to hear about your friend’s experience as it is currently our best selling cocktail and is one of the most appreciated on the island! In regard to your Whiskey, we apologise as this shouldn’t have happened and we will communicate the matter to our head barman immediately.

It is a nice place for hangout with friends. There are many coctails in the menu. Some waiters were not taking our orders because of the crowds.
We ordered the drinks at the bar. The coctails were good and good service by Samit.

Went here to mainly get a drink and maybe a lite dinner. We ended up drinking and having dinner. Food was amazing, ambience was amazing and the staff were even better.
They have live music the night we went and wow they just elevated the vibe and made a stay longer than we planned to

2 of us had a really nice Friday evening at Banana Beach Club. I’d recommend booking in advance because it does get very busy.
Service was very attentive but the vegetarian food choices were dismal. I ordered a palm heart salad - that was pretty much all I could eat on the menu. It was tiny & tasted very indistinct, which was hugely disappointing as this is one of Mauritius’s signature dishes.
There was a live band playing , followed by a dj.
Other than the food, it was an excellent evening.
I know this place is a grill, but a few more vegetarian choices would be great.

After 15 traveling to Mauritius and frequently visiting the bar i was shocked about the service . 45 min waiting for a druck is not acceptable . The highlight came after 45 min - the prices charged are not the ones in the menu - “the menu is not correct … “ was the simple comment - very questionable where the money goes . …. For 11 euro for a simple cocktail I expect more - ….. independent for the not transport prices . ….. it’s a pity - I loved the place ….

As frequent visitor of the bar since 15 years - I was shocked about the service and organisation at the bar . About 45 min to get a drink is not acceptable - even in busy times . And the highlight at payment - the prices charges are not the same as in the menu that is lying out - the comment of the cashier - “… the pieces are not correct “ . More than 30% more charged ….. very questionable . ….. a cocktail for 11 Euros ….. I expect more for the money .

Amazing place to be with amazing staff once inside. They have a really nice atmosphere as well as food!
Though I have to mention; the security are really inconsiderate and needs definite adjustments towards Mauritian crowds. However, once inside, you’ll forget about them.

Hi, has been there last friday and yesterday. Had a nice moment and faced some cheerful persons from the bar. But on the negative side, i would like to pin point at entertainment management. Live was good with some chilling songs while the dancefloor was terrible. Asking a music seemed to be rude to the dj.

Careful decoration and very pleasant atmosphere for this restaurant which schedules concerts certain evenings.
Very successful cuisine: fresh and deliciously cooked mahi mahi, side dishes full of flavor, wonderfully cooked shrimp, in short, a treat. All accompanied by an excellent singer on all registers.

We were asked by the staff in an abusive and condescending tone that we have to speak less loudly, which is quite ironic for a place that calls itself a club. When we did try to speak less loudly, it was hard to hear each other over the loud music. We also happened to be the only non-white customers that day, so we were not completely surprised since the place is managed by a white guy.

Please see below the reply I wrote to your friend who also left us a review. I hope you take the time to read it and that you understand things from our perspective too. I do recall asking one of our waiters and one of our security members to kindly request you be more considerate of other clients around you following a complaint from guests on the table right by you. For our part, we did move them to a table further away, but they still brought to our attention that you were very loud. If it were just up to us & our staff, the noise does not bother us at all as we work in a happy environment with music playing constantly and people going in & out. But for guests having dinner right by you, the noise might be a little unpleasant hence our request.

I’m sorry to read your review on our TripAdvisor page. Please note that we have an internal policy since many years now that bar clients use bar toilets and restaurants clients use restaurant toilets. The reason for this is simple - we had bar clients damaging the toilets/bathrooms inside the restaurant many many times (often after one too many drinks) which cost our company consequent money to repair every time. Though the restaurant & bar share one floor/venue, they are two separate companies. There’s no way to justify bar clients using restaurant toilets if they are not sitting inside the restaurant. This is why our staff have been instructed to redirect all bar clients to the bar toilets which are looked after by the security/cleaners continuously throughout the night. Perhaps, our staff need to communicate this in a kinder but still clear manner which is what I apologise for today and will discuss the above with our team at large so that it is handled more professionally in the future.
However, on a more personal level, I think there’s other points that need to be addressed. You’re calling some of our team members racist – please know we have people from 6 nationalities working for us and coming from all sorts of ethnicities & religions working as one.
Furthermore, The Banana Beach Club is renowned to be one of the most diverse night scene in Mauritius for both locals & tourists alike. We don’t favour ANYBODY for a specific reason and never will – but certainly we follow our internal policies to keep our operations running smooth. It’s not a matter of black or white – it’s a matter of doing our job and to this I’d like to add; all the staff & myself put our passion & knowledge to good use in our work and continuously aim to serve our customers in the best way possible. I think it’s fair to say we work with our hands on our hearts and want every single client to leave with an experience to remember.
As for the white guy you referring to in your comment, it’s me. I won’t shy away from letting you know that my family & friends are Asians, Hindus, Muslims, Creole from various nationalities. In this regard, my advice to you at our venue or any others in the future would be to approach the manager/owner. You’ll get a direct response (most probably a genuine apology) and undoubtedly a reaction/person which might surprise you in a positive way. For most people that chose to work in service, it comes from passion and a desire to serve/please others, it’s not just any random job to them. I think it’s just a shame you’re jeopardising the reputation of a company which comes from years of work for something that you’ve turned into a race issue when it’s not at all.

Once again, I apologise if the staff did speak in a way that you did not appreciate, and I hope that you understand my explanation to your comments which weren’t at all logical from our perspective.

Bonne ambiance sauf que c'est quand même fatiguant d'être déranger sans cesse par les serveurs. Cinq fois en l'espace de trente minutes ils vous soulent a commander à nouveau. D'autant plus que j'avais même pas encore fini mon premier cocktail. Je comprends que vous faites votre boulot les gars mais allez y doucement quand même.!!!!

It will roughly take 25 mins to get to d club.. taxis are available outside the club at night.. you will have to negotiate or rather try negotiating.. one way about 30 to 35 USD
