Great place to swim, be on sand and for snorkellers
It rained, but we were there for short time. We swam, good for my sister, a toddler. It's safe for her. Bouys, for those who can't swim or snorkel. We did it within them. Parking, place to put up tent. But, the next time we came, there were dogs! I hate dogs, I'm afraid of them,

    World class beach
Amazing beach. Seems a bit small but was quiet when we went. Warm, bath tub like water. Good swimming and also some decent snorkelling off the left side of the beach

    Pure relaxation and luxury…..
Lux Grand Baie was the perfect choice for us to celebrate our 20th anniversary. The hotel is beautiful, gorgeous beach bays and well kept swimming pools. We were so impressed with the staff at this hotel, friendly faces every day, who really care that you have an enjoyable time. Every detail is looked after and you really want for nothing during your stay here. We met Brindi and Vikram from management team during our first day and they were always keen to ask how everything was whenever we saw them. Jeyen looked after us at the beach every day, towels, food, water and a smile. Service is 10/10. Another high point has to be the amazing food, superb quality and choice, we enjoyed every single meal both at the main restaurant Beach Rouge and the Japanese restaurant. We got into the habit of a freshly brewed delicious coffee each afternoon from the Maison Lux. Together with a few Spa treatments we treated ourselves with, (Jean David expertly recommended those that would suit us) it was the perfect holiday to switch off and relax. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for luxury treatment and relaxation in Mauritius.

    Lovely Sandy beach
Beautiful beach. Plenty of free parking on the road. A couple of toilet blocks. Beach was busy with locals and tourists but didn’t feel too packed. Water not too deep and Sandy so safe for kids to swim within roped area.

Its close to where we live so easy walking access for us and we never stay a whole day. I have to say the Ice Cream Wagon is a complete ripoff. I asked for an ice cream in a cone and the sofserve was WATERY and cost an arm and a leg AND he didn't give me the flavour I asked for. I think I had tourist written on my forehead. So I won't make that mistake again. its small and compact but lovely for a few hours and we can walk there. Mon Choisy is a much bigger beach and one is able to find a quiet and secluded spot.

Lots of ‘amazing’ 5* reviews of this beach. Really?! I’m guessing those reviewers rating this beach so highly either spend their lives saying ‘amaaaazing’ to most things and/or truly enjoy overcrowded, noisy 100 metre stretches of sand and bobbing up and down (elbow to elbow) sheepishly within a 25 metre buoyed-off swimming area with other bathers.

Mile after mile of secluded, white sands giving way to translucent shades of aquamarine and indigo water, transparent waves breaking on powder soft sea bed, this is not!

Amazing perhaps if compared to the North Sea coast but not so when compared to other holiday destinations that tout their beaches (as does Mauritius) as world class. Thai islands, Malay Islands, Australia, Philippines, Maldives and Seychelles (to name a few) all offer a different level of amazing.

Beautiful beach where you can meet the locals! In the weekends the beach is filled with families having picnic. Few boats ( not like Trou-aux-Bich where swimming is dangerous) so you can easily both swim and snorkle as the locals also do. A lot of beautiful corals close the beach on both sides, you can safely swim all the way to the reef, and to Pointe d'azur. We stayed for two weeks and where lucky to see turtle several times. The whole family enjoyed this beach, would love to come back.

This is a small stretch of beach on the coastal road, between Grand Bay and Cap Malheureux. Its popular with Mauritians who frequent it on the weekends mainly to have picnics, play football or just lounge around. The beach is famous for its remarkable clear water and less coral when you are out swimming. It may possibly be the best stretch of beach to swim in the ocean in Mauritius. That's the view of some of the locals at least.

The waters here are deeper than most of the lagoons that surround Mauritius. Because of that, there is a deeper blue hue to the ocean. Its an ideal beach to snorkel and if you are there in the evening, you will view spectacular sunsets.

You can hire loungers at the beach, there are public toilets with shower facilities and more importantly you will have various foodstalls selling home made food ranging from Biryani, Haleem, fresh fruit and home made Indian style ice cream. Across the road there are shops, cafes and restaurants. You can access it by bus as the bus stop is near. If you travel by car, finding a parking spot can be difficult.

The weekend is a great time to visit but it will be crowded because of the locals but that lends it atmosphere. If you are visiting Mauritius, check this beach out.

We live six months of the year in Pereybere so visit the local beach most days.

It's my hubby's favourite beach for swimming as the water is clear and the bottom sandy with no seaweed. Ideal for kiddies.
Which is why it gets busy at weekends and school holidays, especially Sundays.
Sunbed vendors are still banned so plenty of room to put your mats, towels or chairs.

Fast food vendors have been culled but the one trailer still operational cooks fabulous fries - they have their own secret seasoning which makes the fries the best I've had in Mauritius. Try them.

Parking a bit hit and miss but we always manage to get a space during weekdays.

Loos and showers.

Get cold drinks from the nearby Winners supermarket to the left of the beach.

This was our favorite beach in the north of the island formed from a beautifully curved bay with initial shallow sea, but depth increasing so you cant touch the bottom. Great for swimming and many people ventured beyond the protected swim area out into the bay.

To the sides were areas for boats and water sports including kyaking, boarding and a glass bottom boat owned by Patrice who could arrange snorkelling trips on the adjacent reef or boat trips to adjacent bays. He was brilliant with the children and showed them what to look for.

The beach has good public parking if you get there early, with some shade. There are lots of adjacent cafes and restaurants - we particularly liked the cafe on the beach which did great noodles and coffee at very good prices.

There was a good supermarket further to the East of the bay and lots of small shops and flats to rent close to the bay. We met a South African called Wendi who had been coming to the island for over 30 years and loved Pereybere.

Great swimming and very popular with both locals and tourists.
The actual swimming area has decreased over the years though with buoys marking the swimming area.
They are currently renovating the shower and changing areas.
One gripe is that half the beach has been taken over by sun lounge vendors, which leaves less space for those with their own chairs/mats etc.
Lots of places to eat and a new Winners Supermarket has opened this month in Pereybere, useful if you want to buy snacks and drinks.
Hawkers not that bad, mostly selling boat trips, but a polite no and they go on their way.
