This is by far the best place for snorkeling if you like fish. Great variation. There's a lot of coral too, but a lot of it is dead. Still it was amazing down there. Definately a highlight of Mauritius!

On our last day in Mauritius we booked a day trip to a nearby island - IIe des Deux Cocos. Turquoise clear waters surrounded the island and the beach was pristine white. We were lead to tents where we were pampered in cushioned large chairs...More

Île des deux cocos is an awesome place to visit if you are in Mauritius...
Snorkeling, swimming pool, beautiful view on the Indian Ocean and the best barman of Mauritius : Nawaaz ! Don't hesitate to test his delicious homemade cocktails !

Please remember that you will be snorkelling and not diving. There are plenty of fish to see (if you feed them then they will come) - plus we went towards the end of the afternoon - around 2pm so there were not many boats along the reef - BUT the coral is not one of many and wonderful colours. This will not be the highlight of your snorkelling experience if you have been to bother places in the world before.
You are from Australia and have beautiful reefs where you are, you might be somewhat disappointed with this one.
Day trip tips - which island to choose? (8 Replies)
Hi all. I'm trying to sort out our October itinerary. We would like to visit one of the islands - either Ile des deux Cocos, Ile aux Cerfs or Gabriel Island. I would welcome some recommendations. Which one to choose for its best pure beauty and photo shots possibilities, please? Which one to choose, "value for money" wise?

Hi Hanka We've been to Flat Island and Gabriel island which are right next to each other. I'd say Gabriel, out of the two, for photo shoot potential. Haven't been to Ile aux Cerfs as too many people have said that it's too commercialised and busy. We found the full day catamaran trips to the northern islands to be extremely good value for money at around Rs1200 per pax which includes all drinks and a bbq for lunch with fish, chicken and a host of salads etc. Have a lovely holiday...More

Legends All Inclusive changes (8 Replies)
Has anybody else realised that the all inclusive package will be changing at Legends Hotel for 2008. What you will be getting will not be all inclusive but The Pure Discovery Experience which is not all inclusive. We had already booked Legends with Virgin Holidays as we were to be married theren on 11 January 2008. Virgin have not informed us of the changes, I found out about them when I went on the Virgin holidays website. When we asked our travel agents if the new 'not all inclusive'...More

Hi everyone, we have booked our honeymoon for End April 2014 and are staying at Le Victoria for 7 days. Just wanting to know some things; Firstly, we are wanting to book a catamaran trip but only one - which area/island do you think would be the best for this? We were thinking of either, Ilse Aux Cerfs, Ile des Deux Cocos and Ilot Gabriel Beaches. Which of these would be the most picturesque in terms of water and sand for snorkeling etc. And can anyone else recommend any other area for a...More

Hi Kempie I'd recommend the trip from Grand Baie to Gabrielle/Flat Islands. Not only is it a stunning trip and location with great snorkelling but it is also the closest departure point from Le Victoria. The boats leave GB at 9am so you would have to leave the hotel by about 8.15am to give yourselves enough time to get to Grand Baie without a rush. There are many different boats which sail each day - we've been twice and highly recommend Le Peche II. The other departure points would entail...More
