Drive out to the Hamptons on a beautiful weekday to avoid the horrible traffic jams and make this interesting museum your destination. The structure, which was originally located in a smaller building in the town of Southampton is very low key and designed to resemble the barns in which so many artists work in the area. Outside are two whimsical... More

This beautiful museum not only house great pieces of art it is in itself a thing of beauty. Nestled in a Long Island potato field looking more like part of the landscape than a terrific art museum it unfolds it's wonders. Don't miss the museum gift shop. There are plenty of small items that make perfect stocking stuffers and don't... More

Here was a chance to let artwork shine. The new structure is beautiful, arresting, and fitting for the area. The inside has plenty of natural light and large spaces. The problem is the art collection, which is pitiful. Considering all the great artists who, at one time or another, lived and worked here on the East End, there's nary an... More

This museum has artists from around the world and Long Island. They have a couple of William Merritt Chase paintings that they own. There are programs going on sometimes there. On Friday nights in the summer they have activities going on.

The building is very interesting in fact a great space. A bit expensive at $10 entrance fee and not an awful lot to see but a good variety of art. One doesn't need a hugely long time to see it all, an hour yops

Beautiful exhibits laid out in a great industrial type barn. The art was very interesting and thought provoking. Very fairly priced at $10 per person.

The Parrish Museum is a must see if you find yourself on the south fork of Long Island heading to the attractions on the east end. It's conveniently located on the main eastern corridor. The building doesn't seem that interesting from the outside but once inside you can better appreciate it flow. The exhibitions are very avant guard highlighting new... More

An offbeat building coupled with a variety of mostly local painting and sculpture that tends toward modernistic, pop, and quirky. A sunny day is a plus as light enters the display spaces mainly from sky-lighting and gives an uplifting brightness and accenting. These display spaces are arrayed along a very long narrow edifice (resembling a barn or perhaps a train).... More

This is a must- see once in a while stop. If you go off-season (after Labor Day and befor Mem. Day) it is not a hassle. In season however, the main road traffic can be daunting. This barn -in -a- field look has expensive ceilings however I find the total look a bit cool. Still, a worthwhile visit for their... More

The Parrish Museum moved from Southampton to Water Mill about 3-4 years ago. We love it as our neighborhood museum. The building is barn like with great northern light. Many of the contemporary artists such as Chuck Close, Pollack, Jane Freilicher, de Kooning,Lichtenstein, Rivers are shown. There are also lovely paintings of Fairfield Porter and William Merritt Chase. In the... More
