Jones Beach is a surprisingly beautiful beach. First of all, it is so wide! It is at least 300 yards from the parking lot to the water, walking over fine white sand.

The lifeguards are truly impressive. One of the days we visited, the sea was very rough. The waves were huge and some people dared to venture out past the wave break. We witnessed four professional team rescues. In each case, the vigilant lifeguards immediately blew their whistles, activating a well-rehearsed rescue operation. 4 to 6 lifeguards worked in collaboration to save the people from the undertow.

The beach is impeccably clean and we were always able to find parking. We bought an Empire Pass, allowing us unlimited visits for $80 for one calendar year.

At times, the wind picked up, so our umbrella needed to be folded up. But the breeze cooled down the hot summer days.

We visited about 15 times in July, and had amazing experiences and adventures each time. We LOVE Jones Beach!

Im going to keep this short and simple since i see a lot of negative comments about this beach being left on here by many what i would call “Karens and Kens.” First and foremost with most people being tokd to stay home this past summer what do you expect? There will be music and other stuff on the beach. Some of you were never teens or still haven’t lived life yet. Moving on, field 4 is without a doubt THE PARTY field. You literally have 6 more miles of beach to lie down on and relax. For example, field 6 is super quiet and the walk to the beach is super close, so stop complaining about music and what not when there’s plenty of choices besides field 4 for you boring ones. Yes there are plenty of nicer beaches like cedar beach and so forth but not as fun as coming with a group of your friends down to field 4 for a good time. Many of the people complaining or otherwise being negative are most likely what they sound like, negative boring people. I know this from experience on the beach especially at field 4. My whole point is simple, if you dont like loud music, if you dont like to see people with a drink in their hand, if other peoples happiness makes you cringe, you have many other fields to go to other than field 4. Pack your S*** skippy and wake up, your at a public beach, not your backyard. Bigger parties at field 4 in 2021 coming - karens and kens, you’ve been warned.

You may never have seen a beach like this one! Miles of sandy beach to walk and swim. Go EARLY. There are buses from NYC or drive - try for Field 6 (fills up early).
If you don't like crowds - go during the week; walk about 5 minutes from the parking lot.
Seniors are free during the week.

Lifeguards; bathrooms; concession stands. There is a boardwalk for wheelchairs - but you won't be at the water's edge. The view though...

Let’s start off with the Parking. The workers are extremely nasty. Refusing to answer questions. They were not even wearing masks when paying for parking. The beach is littered with gloves, masks and CONDOMS. I watched a mother scream in horror because where they were laying had a used condom on it. BUT let’s not talk about that. Let’s talk about the two life guards making out on the stand and literally not watching a single human being in the water. This has to be one of the most disgusting places I have ever been too. Coney Island is closer to New York and atleast they have bathrooms not covered in people bathing in the sinks.

I have been coming to Jones Beach since I was a toddler. The boardwalk is beautiful. The bathrooms are usually clean and there are plenty of them. Parking is pretty decent depending on what time of day you arrive. I cannot give it 5 stars because most of the time the crowds are not the greatest and the amount of trash is upsetting. Very loud, trashy crowds who throw their garbage all over the beach. Why must people trash and destroy this beautiful area? It’s so sad to see plastic wrappers, bags, straws and everything else all in the water and sand. No respect for nature and the ocean. What works best for us is walking down the beach far away from the crowds. You have to walk far to get away from the crowded bathing areas, but it’s worth it so you can truly enjoy the beauty of the area and the beach. I also like to bring a bag and pick up the trash while I walk. The water is pretty rough, so I wouldn’t advise swimming where there aren’t any life guards.

When I was young we used to always go to field 6. There was a sign at the gate that said no swimming so we turned back and went to field 2. There was no similar sign at the gate. We paid our $10 parking fee. The parking lot is marked off for COVID spacing (every other space). The small shop and bathrooms are open. The walk across the sand to the waterfront is really, really long. When we got there we found out that the red flags were up and there was no swimming here either ... we think maybe because of recent shark sightings. The beach was not very crowded. You could wade in the water but not go in or swim. The lifeguards were watching things very close. Bring your own umbrellas - there were no rentals available. We stayed for a few hours and had a nice time.

Beautiful Beach, sand, and view.
Super long walk from the entrance to the water, not suitable carries a lot of stuff or old people.
The beach should provide a sand mat for people to roll their baby stroller, cooler etc.
Very far and exhausting walk
It means, super far walk to go to the restroom when you in the beach.

Coming from Brooklyn we got a late start for Robert Moses State Park. It was already full by the time we got there, so we headed south to Jones Beach pkg lot 6.

Very windy, high surf but not crowded. Haven’t been since 1980. Many highways to get there, leave early!!!!!

It was my first time back to Jones Beach in many years -- still as beautiful as always. I visited on a spring weekday, so no crowds. People who live in the area take the size of the beach (length and width) for granted, but for those who aren't local, I think you will be impressed. The boardwalk allows for a leisurely stroll and has just enough commercial activity. The sand is beautiful and the beach is clean. It seemed like there was a trash can every 20 feet on the beach which hopefully helps to keep things clean during the summer crowds.

A wonderful beach that includes various places of interest. Occasional concerts, a swimming pool, shuffleboard floors, mini-gold, a nice restaurant with good food, and the actual beach.

It also has large parking spaces.

I like that Jones Beach is an island just dedicated to the beach. You'll know when you're there because it smells like the salty sea and you are breathing that salty, dry air.

Expect to stay here for many hours.
