Awesome view on the east end of Oneida Lake. This location also has a fun Geocache. There is a sand bar out front if you'd like to spend time on the beach, however, it is open to boats, so may not be the best location for a lot of swimming.

If you like lighthouses, than check this out. It is kind of hidden away. I never knew about it for several years. When you get over toward Sylvan Beach, cross the bridge and check this out. It won't take long, and is worth the trip.

This light house is located within a neighborhood. You can walk around the base of the lighthouse, but here is not much to see. Parking is very limited. No more than 2 maybe 3 cars can be there at the same time.

Situated in a neighborhood next to the lake, it’s a surprising spot to find a lighthouse. It’s got a nice little history and it’s in a great spot to view the sunset.

Beautiful Old Lighthouse taken care of by a group of volunteers. Nice beach and swimming is available.

So fun discovering this light house and reading about its history. It is right by the water so we took a few minutes to watch the boats. I never knew this lighthouse was here. A fun discovery.

Walk from Verona beach.There is parking for a few cars. Small beach area.There are 2 benches by the lighthouse.

This was quite the surprise to me. I joking said " I wonder if there is a lighthouse near here" and a minute later I saw a sign for the Lighthouse. What a fun day.

When the Erie Canal was expanded to include Oneida Lake and by-pass Syracuse, lighthouses were constructed in Brewerton on the west, Frenchmen's Island in the lake and at Verona Beach on the east shore to guide barge traffic to the canals channels. Completed in 1917. While falling into disrepair and neglect over the years a Verona Beach Lighthouse Association formed which has cleaned up the surrounding area and brought it back to an historic attraction crucial to Erie Canal navigation. Although modern GPS and other navigational aids has reduced its necessity, it reminds us of the early days of barge traffic on the canal. As work continues informational displays detail the history of the lighthouse and canal.
