I recently went back up to my favorite vineyard and farm; Amorici Vineyard to celwbrate my 60th birthday with my family. Not only did I get to taste all the white wines and get a tour of the property, learning about the process of making wines, but ended with a glorious meal prepared by the propieter, Joe. What a fabulous way to celebrate! It's a day I'll never forget. Thank you Joe! By the way, you should all plan a trip here. Each wine is exquisite, paired expertly with cheese and crackers to round out your experience. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

After stumbling upon this wine at the Northville NY farmers market a couple of years ago, we always wanted to check out the winery. Since there is nowhere anywhere near where we live in MA to purchase it we made a point of visiting on our way to Blue Mt. Lake this year. First - we relied on our gps - probably not the best idea since it took us out of our way to get there. The one time we didnt have a map with us! But it was worth it. We sampled 6 wines each, savoring each and picking favorites. The owner, Mr. Messina was not there that day, but we had a great time with his assistant who also knows her wines. We walked around the beautiful grounds, said hi to the chickens, took a quick look at the grape vines. We are hoping to return and spend more time there and speak with Mr. M. Check out their web site and visit. It's worth the drive. Thank you Sir, for making some terrific wines! We left with 2 cases!

We have been driving past the Amorici Winery sign for several years, but in anticipation of hosting some out-of-town guests, we decided to give test to see if it would be worth a return visit with our family.

Yes - it was definitely worth the visit.

It's a very small winery - literally, a one-man show. The wines are interesting - not the usual sweet wines you expect in New York. But this isn't a wine review.

Tastings are relatively inexpensive and offer the usual souvenir glass (a clean glass, not the one you used for tasting). There are two choices - a five wine flight or a ten-wine sample. Amorici actually offers a fairly wide selection of wines (as well as their own grappa and vanilla extract) including a few speciality wines that they stock from sister wineries on Long Island. Host/winemaker Joe takes you through your selection and provides a description of the wines, adjusting the selection he offers based on your reaction to the wines you have already tasted. And if you are interested, he will take you for a tour of his production facility (aka his basement) and his vineyard, complete with his intrusion alarm system (a flock of geese).

Amorici is on a dirt road way out in the boonies off Rt. 67, but there are ample signs leading the way. Of course, having a GPS is always useful. Wine prices are actually quite reasonable for a winery. There is a picnic area - they sell wine by the bottle and by the glass, and for those who prefer, they also have a limited selection of beers on hand.

We had a wonderful time tasting wine and delicious foods! It was a very relaxed setting to visit with my Brother-in-law and his wife. The kids really enjoyed the food, too, and visiting with Gigi, the resident Lab.

We’re frequent winery visitors but this was our first scheduled feast. Food (including lobster), quantities, timing and service all on point. Great get-out-town setting.

What a gem of a find. Winery with great food! A little bit of a drive to the country but well worth it! Serving soups appetizers and full entrees, the menu is not large but it is cooked to order. While waiting for the food, I completed a wine tasting! Visit this place soon! The crabmeat stuffed sole with saffron rice and home grown vegetable medley was perfect! They are open noon till 6 Thursday through Monday!

3 of us spent the afternoon and early evening touring the vineyards and winery after some wine tasting.

All of us truly enjoyed the wine samplings as one seemed better than the other?

The owner-chef winemaker, Joe Messina gave a full explanation of the grapes and how he produces the different varietals.

Then we sat down to a wonderful dinner prepared by the chef. The food and service was outstanding. No negatives about the day. Only positives and looking forward to a return trip.

Only a 30 minute drive from Latham and well worth it. The article in the newspaper brought us to Amorici, so thanks Times Union.
