Every holiday season, the railway does the special Polar Express. We recently went on the Polar Express train ride. Parents and children alike wore their pajamas (if they wished...most wished to). At the Utica train station, several games were set up to help the children...More

It is hit or miss on seeing the best color but the train ride was interesting. I would not do this except with a group so when it is slow you have someone to converse with.

October 6, 2018 ... Let me start by saying that I'm not a high maintenance person that requires 5 star accommodations and excursions, but I do expect some sort of common sense. First off, my friend told me to lower my expectations when it came...More

Still sitting on the train. I'm fairly certain that I could have had more fun sitting on a road cone naked in a blizzard. While the staff was nice, I began and ended the trip to big moose confused. I had no real information on...More

Spent a long Sunday on the Foliage train ( no layover). Last 10 Miles or so were beautiful, but it took two hours extra to get there. They added a car and all the other cars were loaded. It took two extra engines to get...More

Interesting to learn that all staff are volunteers and that the organization running it is non-profit. Surplus monies go back into the operation. I was sick for this trip, but as we had already rescheduled once, we had to go ahead anyway. Unfortunately, the weather...More

We arrived an hour before boarding as advised but had to wait in a long line to get our tickets. I realize the RR is run by volunteers but they really need to develop a better check in process. There was one person with a...More

We arrived early, as asked, to find ourselves in a 50 minute line to get our tickets printed out. We actually got on the train the time it was supposed to leave. We knew we were in trouble because there was a LONG line behind...More

Yes I would also say the best thing is to call. As I'm not sure of what specials they have. Some times they have groups making a special trip. Also I think they have a Web Site.

Their website would have the information you need but no, I don't think they have daily scenic trips. I think it depends on the time of the year. Some weeks there are many more trips than at other times.
