I didn't get to see the lighthouse on foot but passed it on a cruise on the Hudson River Cruise line the Rip Van Winkle II and got to know the history of the lighthouse by audio. It was a very interesting place for the family that lived there and its place in Hudson River history. If you get a chance take one of the river cruises from Kingston Roundout and tour these lighthouses by the river. The people who once lived here bring them back to life.

This was our second stop on the double lighthouse tour through hudson cruises. We had a welcoming committee upon arrival, which lead us around the lighthouse. It is amazing to see this labor of love.

This is one of the best light houses on the Hudson River. Accessible by tour boat the Light House has been restored to a working condition. Tours take inside and out of this historic property. The boat ride is nice. Don't miss this tour when in the area.

The hike begins and end along the Hudson River with a gorgeous view of the Esopus lighthouse and Mills Mansion in the distance. The longest hike is a little bit more than 2 miles through the woods. Along the way there is another opportunity to sit under a pavilion along the Hudson River. Bring a snack and stay a while. The parking lot is currently under construction. Which makes it difficult to get to the trail head.

we make it a day and go to esopus/port ewen and take a walk/hike at lighthouse. the view of the Hudson is amazing and the hiking is perfect. Just enough ups and down to feel like you got a good work out. the dog loves it too. then you can bring a picnic lunch and sit by the river and watch the boat and just the pure beauty of it all
