This was our first time at the Jazz Forum. The host Mark and hostess Ellen were very warm and friendly and met us at the door. We were at a hi top table in the back and the view was great. We saw Tito Puente Jr. and needless to say the show was fabulous. Terry Moore was called onto the stage by Tito and knocked our socks off with her performance. The drinks and the food were perfect. What a wonderful evening. Thank you Mark and Ellen.

I'm sorry. I went to see Janis SIegel perform on New Year's Eve 2019. First they made us wait outside in the cold for 1/2 hr - with no explanation when I asked. I love Janis SIegel (of the Manhattan Transfer). What was not so great is the venue for a first class artist like Janis. All during the performance people were talking, eating, you hear dishes clanking, bartenders mixing drinks (which often sounded like one of the instruments). This may be a good venue for a jazz band playing in the background while having dinner - but not for a first class artist like Janis Siegel Then to add salt to the wound - about 10 minutes before the end of the show - my waitress says to me that she will have to charge me for the minimum of 2 drinks (I only had one). So I ordered a glass of wine and barely had time to drink it. I never stiff waiters or waitresses - but I did this time. Oh, and did I say I paid $100.00 - yes that was $100.00 - for the ticket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would NEVER see someone I really want to see at this place. I say - DON'T - see them in a proper show venue. They didn't even have a step up to the stage - I couldn't even see Janis SIegel perform. I could only hear her along with the other noise.

Hello,
As the General Manager of the Jazz Forum, I appreciate your comments as we do for both positive and negative feedback. I am so sorry you had the experience you described at the Jazz Forum. We did make a big mistake having early bird guests wait outside before seating for the 6 pm seating; I should have checked the length of the line and addressed that right away. We book many first class artists on regular nights every weekend and explain at the start of every set that we are a listening room - the music is the reason folks come and the menu of food and drink is secondly and yet, not unimportant. We are committed to a positive and attentive experience for both musicians and guests. We are also always looking for ways to both serve our guests efficiently and keep the noise in the kitchen and bar to a minimum in our open space. As for the raised stage, we made an intentional decision to maintain the living room feel of the club and allow for bands of all sizes to perform.
On New Year's Eve, it is one night when that commitment is challenged by the celebratory nature of the evening. Last, if there was a misunderstanding about our minimum for that special night, I apologize for that. If you take a look at our line-up, we hope you will come for upcoming first-class shows and experience our promise to keep the sounds off the stage to a minimum. We will be sure to take care of you. Please feel free to follow up with me by email at ellen@jazzforumarts.org.
Sincerely,
Ellen K. Prior

Glad we got to enjoy early Sunday evening Jazz and a nice dinner with friends at this hidden spot in Tarrytown. Reserve and arrive early to get your preferred (unassigned) seats, as the place fills up quickly.

Nice space, quality performances, but painfully sub-par service.Had visited a year ago and had this experience, but chalked it up to newness. Went last night and found that nothing had changed. If you're going run a cabaret, you can't expect people to wait a half hour before giving a drink order. And, you should not get the order completely wrong when finally served. Purely amateur hour.

The Jazz Forum is the place in the Hudson Valley to experience world class jazz. The club is nicely laid out. The sound is excellent and they have an incredible Steinway piano. Mark and Ellen have been presenting great music for over forty years, so the know who to book. The audience is always hip and respectful of the performers.
My only criticism is that they could use a stage. If the could raise the height of musicians by only one foot, the sight lines of all the seat would improve vastly.
But all in all, a great club without all the trials of heading into NYC.

Just went there last night with musician friends. The music was great, the venue was small and cozy. Great experience there but when it comes to service, it’s very poor. The service is long and confused: took 45 minutes to place an order, had to place it twice as the first waitress never wrote it down, bringing drinks to the wrong table, food is a bit pricey for what you get.
The show lasted 1 hour, whished it was longer. The entry fee is $25, plus a $10 consumption per person.
Because the show is short, having dinner there does not make sense as they gently tell you to leave once the show is over.
We will come back for the shows but only having a drink, no dinner.
