We took a tour with Georgia last December. We wanted to visit Staten Island and we were looking for that kind of flexible and friendly tour. That's what we had ! Georgia spent 2 hours we us to visit most of the island. Great tour ! I recommended it !

Carreta Tours is run by Georgia, an engaging Staten Island local who runs very affordable customized tours of Staten Island. She will meet you in Manhattan at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal and point out sights of interest on the free ferry across to Staten Island. When you arrive on the island she will take you on an interesting tour of the island in her car for three hours. It was great to see the mix of upmarket and other housing styles on the island. There is a very touching memorial to the firemen lost in 9/11 in the grounds of Snug Harbor Cultural Center. The Center features very attractive gardens. Much further away from the harbor, we saw an interesting statue garden displaying statues from the same guy who made the Wall Street Bull Statue, including something that looked like a prototype for the Wall St Bull.

We saw some very attractive parts of the island, including a number of peaceful green spaces, but they are much further away from the harbor. This includes the gracious house in the attractive Todt Hill section of the island where the wedding scene in Corleone compound in the original Godfather movie was filmed. Also, if you like nature, the goats perched up on the parkland overlooking the Verrazano Bridge are quite cute. This was a high value day for the price that Georgia charges. You won't see the big ticket tourist "tick off" items from Manhattan but you will get a feel for some of the more attractive things on the island, if you are looking to be brave and see more than the ferry terminal, you should try this.

We went on a private tour all around the island with Georgia, a Staten Island local for over 40 years. She knows the history and every square inch of the island. We saw charming St. George and its historic district of old homes, the forest of the elevated interior, the only Frank Lloyd Wright home in New York City and the historic Conference House at the tip of the island. Georgia is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about all things Staten Island. It was also interesting to hear how Hurricane Sandy and 9/11 affected the residents here. Highly recommended to get to know New York city beyond Manhattan.

This is a must for anyone who wants to learn more and see the sights of Staten Island. Georgia is an excellent tour guide; engaging, informative and knowledgable. I would go back and do it again in a heartbeat, and no doubt see and learn even more.

Georgia, my guide was wonderful. She had an easy going manner and lots of first hand information and history about our 5th boro. We toured many off the beaten path sites including the mysterious grounds of the abandoned Sea View Farm and Home. The island has many treasures that I did not know about. In warm weather this will be a wonderful island to walk the many paths and beaches. I highly recommend Carreta Tours. You will not be disappointed in the 3 hour tours.

We took a tour with Georgia in early May.She is the most amazing guide, meeting us on the Manhatten side to travel over on the ferry with us. From the first time I made contact via emal she was quick with replies & in contact while we were organising the times & dates. She pointed out sights along the way which we would never have known. Georgia's knowledge of Staten Island is fantastic, we saw & learnt so much. It is a beautiful place to visit & truly a hidden jem. Georgia is so friendly, generous with her time & the best tour guide we had during out recent trip to New York. I would suggest that everyone take the time to join Georgia & Carreta Tours on one of her tours of her home boro of Staten Island. We loved the whole time we were with her.
