Located on the highest point in the eastern United States. In the green belt park system of parks dept a truly serene and attractive area, you would not believe your in nyc. A nice hike to the top and great way to spend the day in summer spring or fall. My suggestion is bug spray and water. Several private homes... More

This park is tucked away. I has a country feeling with many trails. Just beautiful! This is a place for nature lovers and walkers. You will feel like you are far from the city. Very natural and trees galore to help keep you cool,

I felt more like I was in my home state of Wisconsin when I was hiking. This is a treasure along with Camp Pouch. We saw giant turtles in the water and a variety of bird species. I could not believe that I was so close yet so far from NYC in this beautiful, quiet wilderness.

Well, okay Staten Island is not the 'heart' of the city, but it is within New York City and although it is not virginal nature, it is surprising how natural and unspoiled it is here. Portions of this trail will include noise pollution from nearby highways, but you may also see white tailed deer, we saw 5!

This is a great place for nature lovers. You don't find places like this inside city limits. It is truly the forest with steams and all the local wildlife.

I should start by giving a caveat: I am a vice president of the Greenbelt Conservancy, so this will not be an unbiased review. I should add that the REASON I became involved in the Greenbelt is because I am completely in love with it and have been hiking the 35 miles of trails inside it for several decades. Most... More

Nice area, with few picnic tables and some trails. Good to visit. Good walking! Visited last year, loved the visit! It's free, natural and a nice woodsy setting. You can see Tulip trees there (no tulips, just the Tulip trees)

How nice to have a means of getting away from it all within minutes from home!! The trails are easily managed even during the winter months.

I've been coming here since I was a kid, and it only gets better! Trails are maintained, clean, and not crowded. Some are easy loops, great for families and elderly; others are long hikes that do not loop back, so be careful. All are well marked, so don't worry. There's parking at the end of Nevada Ave. Watch out for... More

It is hard to believe that you are still in New York City, this is a delightful natural setting to commune with nature.
