We went through the churchyard (dating back to this mid-1700's) and the old Dutch Church. The graveyard was fascinating, having been there for almost three centuries. The church itself is plain, but has lots of history. The whole town was decked out for Halloween, which added to its mystique!

We didnt go into the church as it was closed, but we did walk the grounds looking for Washington Irving's grave site and marveling at the old, historic headstones. Many from the revolutionary war. The cemetery is huge and you can drive through it. We parked right within the gates and walked up a hill to see the church yard... More

The church and burying ground is across the street from Philipsburg Manor and attached to the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery to the north. Walk the among old graves, gravel roads and hillside tombs. Print a may off the internet and hike both cemetery's. Here you will find Washington Irving, Andrew Carnegie, William Rockefeller Walter Chrysler and others!

Was so excited to visit Sleepy Hollow as am a fan of Washington Irving and I love history. The church is breathtakingly beautiful, as are the grounds. It is also a living church with an active congregation. We met Deb who gave us tonnes of history and information and was a great ambassador for the place. We also visited Sunnyside... More

It is easy to over-look how important the Dutch were in founding of New York City and the entire Hudson River Valley. this beautiful church, and the graveyard, brings that cultural truth home in a very real way.

So I like cemeteries. I don't know- just have always found them intriguing. This is a good one. It's large, old, and has a nice mix of architecture, history, mausoleums, and the added allure of Sleepy Hollow. Seeing Graves closer to the church inscribed in Dutch was an exciting reminder of just how long people have been using it. The... More

We took a walk around here on a beautiful sunny May day and can thoroughly recommend it. Genuinely moving to see the great Washington Irving's resting place and to find those of the Van Tassel's from his famous story. Such a peaceful and picturesque place for a gentle stroll. Enjoy - we did.

Very quaint cemetery! Paid our respects to one of our favorite authors Washington Irving! Cant wait to tour at night in the fall on one of their lantern tours! Definitely will be back!
