I recently went with some colleagues to Rivers Casino to check it out and try not to lose too much money. From what I had been told by people who had been to Rivers Casino already I was expecting it to be small. I actually found it to be very reasonable size. If people are comparing it to Las Vegas casino, then yes Rivers is on the small side. But as an addition to the capital region I found it just right. There were lots of table game opportunities ranging from blackjack to craps Many slots machines spread around as well. I chose blackjack and had a great time with a few friends and a fantastic dealer. Many people in my group were staying at the Courtyard Mohawk Harbor (see separate review). It was an easy walk to the casino from there. Of all the attendees at my business meeting who went over to the casino, not one of them expressed disappointment with the time they had there. My only suggestion would be to add at least one more $10 craps table. The one they had was full and the other tables with higher limits were not. Many more people would have been playing had there been one or two more $10 tables open.

Visited Rivers for the fourth time since it opened. And I won't be back. The slots are programmed to take and take as fast as you can put your money in. I didn't observe one single person winning a jackpot or sizable payout. I spent hours here. Lost a good chunk of cash. Which to be honest isn't a problem for me. It's just the lack of any bonuses or just fun hitting something every now and then. The slots are just there to take not entertain you. No fun in that. I don't drink so couldn't care less about the bars. I don't care about the food or sports betting. The slots are a cash cow for this casino which must be floundering if they have to set payouts so low. Sad and pathetic. Not really a resort either. Just a casino with a small hotel. Staying away will travel to a real casino resort Turning stone or Atlantic city's Hard Rock

Gave Rivers another chance. What a mistake. I knew better but was thinking it’s possible they might have changed. No they haven’t. This casino has the worst payouts on slots I’ve ever experienced. Just when I thought they couldn’t get any worse they pulled it off and got worse. Stay away and save your money is my advice.

Went on a Saturday night to see popular area band at the bar. We don't gamble. Not a good place if you don't. Very crowded, had to stand if you wanted to see the band. Couldn't get to the bar. Workers kept pushing a dolly back and forth through the crowd to get more supplies. I got hit by one from behind. Security guard came along at one point and actually roughly pulled people out of the way of a person with a dolly. Very bad experience. Left after 30 minutes. Won't go back.

I'll start my review with the hotel itself. The hotel is nice, clean & rooms are comfortable, clean & nice river views we had each time my husband & I stayed. We had been coming here as a fun rest stopover before continuing to our destinations. Everything was good until the recent stay. Now onto the casino. We arrived at night after dinner. Checked in, lugged our luggage up to our room & again nice & clean rooms. Hotel staff friendly. We go down to the casino go through security & enjoy our evening then head to our room for the night. We wake up in the morning, pack our belongings, bring our luggage down to our car in secured parking which is great btw. We decided to go get coffee before leaving & you have to go through the casino to the back to purchase it as there are no in room coffee makers or something more convenient outside the casino in the hotel area. We go through security & one of the guys waived us through then the other one with this accent & prob around late 50s/60s told me he wanted to see my id. I was actually startled because I was never asked for id whenever we came & we visited it often. Nor have I been asked forid at least 37 yrs! I took out my drivers license & because I'm auto immune compromised I told him I didn't want him to touch it esp after wiping his nose with his hand but I did put it right up to his face so he can see it since he didn't see my greying hair and aging skin. He didn't like that & copped a nasty attitude, military like & there was no need for that tude. He wouldn't let me in but let my husband in. The other guy just looked at him like for real?! When I asked for his name he wouldn't give it to me. He needs training on how to deal with guests & the public & how to spot guests who are 21 & younger. Hotel staff claimed that they are supposed to id anyone who looks 40 yrs & younger yet the signs say you have to be 21 & over. How about iding people who look 25 & younger & those who look suspicious instead of folks who are in the late 50s!!!! Way to make hotel guests welcomed NOT!! If he can't tell who is under 21 then get him a pair of glasses!!! I don't think we will ever return & will give our business to the other nice & larger casino/hotel from now on.

I have been to River Casino many times. Staff at the Craps tables are rude, obnoxious and very unprofessional. Paying attention to detail is a must when working at the crap table. Lots of horsing around. Custom Service is basically non existent and when you speak up, here comes retaliation. Im from Connecticut and the casinos there are great when it comes to customer service.

I've lived most of my life here with exception of last 16 years I lived in las Vegas, I at first thought it was great to have a casino here, until I ve gone there at least 50 times in last year and spend average of 300 each time. Never win, j wait I won once....otherwise you just feed the machine it's not right for the only casino in the area to do this to mostly local people , no wonder you don't post win percentages for customers to see. You always win! When my peers come from Las Vegas to see me I will be sure not to take them to rivers.

I went with my friend to Van Slycks last Friday but Trina and Michelle refused to serve me and my friend for no reason and called the security on us for no reason. That’s discrimination! That’s not how you treat your customers. Trina and Michelle don’t like me for no reason. I always try to avoid going to Van Slycks because of how Trina and Michelle disrespect and discriminate me. I’m very respectful guy and always give big tips and I have been coming here to the casino for over 5 years. I never had any problems with anybody else at the casino but I’m being treated very bad at Van Slycks by these two ladies without any reason. I always go to Dukes and everybody is nice up there specially Rachel but unfortunately they close early so we had no choice that night and Trina and Michelle treated us like we are animals.

I'm gonna leave my review based on an employment standpoint. Dominic the guy that oversees all the rivers dealers, really isn't a nice guy. Always tried to be respectful. I one day sent him a text msg letting him know how I felt during my audition. I literally started the text with I know I didn't preform my best. But I felt a little rushed. Dominic being the guy he is took constructive critism as not showing accountability, and blaming people for my failures, which I clearly stated in the text wasn't what I was trying to do. Instead of sitting down with me, and trying to figure out why I said what I said. He basically scolded me and told me he already notified his superiors, without even clarifying anything. Worst organization I've ever seen. I've never seen an organization that is not opened to any constructive critism. I had already blamed myself for my failure, but Dominic's the kind of guy that takes any sort of critism into disrespect. Defentily not an organization I would ever apply to again.

If you are a senior stay away. They treat you horrible. Went on senior day where you could do a slot tourney on machine. Couldn't figure out how to get it to work. Tried hitting buttons to find it. Was told somehow I used $50 worth of points trying to find the tourney. Explained I never used the points on free play but horrible desk supervisor said to bad and nothing could be done. Seems the tourney only works on some slot machines per the front desk. Didnt find this out until later. That supervisor was a told jerk and should be fired. A supervisor with no customer service skills and empathy only gives Rivers a bad name. I got home and my family and I ripped up our slot cards. We will never go back to this casino. Go to the Turning Stone or any other casino but stay away from Rivers. I have made it my mission to get as many people as possible to stay away from this casino. I even contacted the casino but they never responded back so I they ask you to contact then dont because they could care less.
