I signed up for outside yoga with Saugerties Yoga. What a neat park for my morning practice. It is a hidden gem. The road to the upper park is hidden and I wouldn't have found it without following another yoga student.

Beautiful park. Unfortunately I came between flower season. There are many many mums planted but not blooming yet. The benches were placed strategically throughout the hilly park. It was serene and quiet. There was a fun looking playground at the bottom of the hill. Parking was an adventure. The road to get there is winding and has a LARGE rock on one side and 2 large trees to go between at the end. I would like to return when it is blooming.

I grew up in Saugerties and moved away but I recently took the time to go back and enjoy this park. First let me give you a little history of the park. In 1907, John Seamon purchased the property and deeded it to the Village on August 7, 1909, “for use as a park, a breathing place, open and free at all times to every person.”
On the north side of the parcel next to the creek one can see the remains of replica pre-Revolutionary War grist mill that was built in 1971 but unfortunately it is no longer standing. The site was once home to the Martin Terwiller grist mill on the Sawyer Kill. Sawyers happens to be the name of the Saugerties High School sports team and when I graduated from High School the grist mill was on the cover of the year book. In 1922 Henrietta Seamon established a Memorial Fund which has been used ever since to maintain the park through the Village of Saugerties and a Park Board. There is a picnic area with fireplaces built in 1929 by the Camp Fire Girls. In the picnic area there are tables and some playground equipment for the kids to enjoy. It should be noted that the park is on a hill.
The park is popular for wedding pictures and is especially beautiful in early October when the park hosts the annual Mum Festival, started in 1965 by the Rotary Club. The Mum Festival features a large display of chrysanthemums as well as interesting art displays, musical entertainment and of course food. This is also the time when the High School has its home coming football game which is named the Mum Bowl and a Mum queen and court are selected. In December the park is illuminated with a beautiful display of Christmas lights.
The park is a beautiful often overlooked gem in the area and there is no admission fee. My most recent visit was October after the Mum Festival but the place was still absolutely beautiful and worth the time to wander around and enjoy the flowers and beautiful day.

Take time to visit Seamon Park while visiting our national historic village of Saugerties in the Catskill Mtns. It's a great place for families and leashed pets. Walk the grounds; enjoy the playgrounds. There's a lovely stone fireplace and picnic tables. And, while walking you will find a lovely surprise. There are magnificent views of the Hudson River.
The park in autumn is extra special. Saugerties hosts an annual mum festival and the park is adorned with mums in unexplainable colors. Christmas is a delight with the holiday tree and all the trimmings. Enjoy

What a beautiful spot for my nieces' wedding. The grounds are kept nicely & the views of the mountains, spectacular!
There were flowers & a water fountain!
The pavilion provided space for muscle & dancing. We had a terrific day as far as weather, so we were very lucky!

We've been visitors here for decades and it is as nice now as it was way back when. By far the best time to visit is October during mum season. We got married here in October 1992; great memories.

After visiting the lighthouse we headed to the gardens. We drove by local homes with more expansive and attractive gardens.

Beautiful any time of the year--had our wedding pix taken there in the summer. Fall is beautiful because the park is loaded with all different color mums. Playground area with slide and swings for kids.

This park is amazing with all the mums they have. It is bountiful with mums every year and I have passed by here and never stopped. They have a beautiful garden of flowers and if you are getting married in the Fall it would be a very lovely place to hold the ceremony.
