Decided to visit after hearing friends talk about this place. It's very easy to miss the entrance because the sign, like the gardens, is very sedate. A long road completely surrounded by trees brought us to a very small, unmarked parking area. There were no signs, so we followed a trail, which opened up to the gardens. It was not... More

The terrible tale of the founding of Yaddo makes the visit bitter sweet. Only the gardens are open to the public. A bountiful rose garden separated by a long pergola from a very cool rock garden, all loving tended by an army of dedicated volunteers. Lovely.

The history of this estate is most interesting and very sad for the family.....One can only imagine life during the 19th century.

Having driven by Yaddo many times, two friends and I decided to pay a visit. Although it was too early for the rosiest be in bloom, we enjoyed the well-manicured lawns and the fountains and statues that make up the majority of this lovely garden. We will definitely return in a month or so when hopefully, the roses will be... More

My stop here was very disappointing. It is free so at least we did not spend any money. This seems to be mostly a rose garden so wait to visit when roses are in bloom. In early May this garden is still asleep and dormant. Some water falls were not running. Statues were still wrapped for winter protection. This feels... More

If you visit and don't go here in summer time, you are missing out. Unbelievable history, the grounds and gardens are amazing. And it's free. Easy to get to near the track too.

For anyone visiting the Saratoga Springs area who enjoys nature and especially flowers, this is a must do on your list of stops. Just east of the Race Course on Union Avenue you'll find the hidden gem that is known as Yaddo. A peaceful artist's retreat, these grounds are private property with some open to the public. The rose gardens... More
