From the very beginning it was a great experience with Sag harbor Sailing. We walked in the office to check in and the staff were really pleasant from the beginning and everything was running on time. I even forgot to bring a jacket and they lent me one to use on the boat.
Our instructor Paul was a really nice guy and incredibly knowledgable about sailing. As a self taught instructor he was a great resource to ask the beginner's questions. Even though it was a rough day on the water, my partner and I felt very comfortable sailing with Paul. He did a great job explaining things ahead of time to where learning how to do everything during the rough parts was easy. I felt like the excursion was well worth the money and it was fun talking with Paul while trying out some of the maneuvers.

My daughter and I just returned from an amazing sailing 101 lesson. Mark was a very thorough and patient instructor. The course was 2 days and there was a lot of new terminology to learn and practice as we sailed on both afternoons once we completed the morning classroom lessons. Mark’s competence as a sailing instructor gave us the confidence to sail the keel boat under his patient guidance, never making us feel discouraged if we made mistakes. To complete our sailing experience, we slept on the 34’ Catalina Sloop which made the trip a perfect pirate adventure. Bob was also a very friendly and accommodating sailor that made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed for our overnight stay. He is an amazing artist that captures life on the sea, and his paintings are hung throughout the shop. These guys are the best!

Bob and Mark are great. I took all three of the ASA Courses they offer and everyone of them was taught very well. Great experience with seasoned and knowledgeable teachers. I have also rented every boat they offer and each time was a great experience. I highly recommend these guys for getting your sailing certifications or for just for a day out sailing!!

Rented a 23’ sailboat for a sunset sail with 4 friends. I had not sailed in about three years, Bob gave me a quick rundown of the rigging and engine starting. The boat was clean and in great condition. Motored out of a very well protected harbor into wide-open Noyac Bay. Lovely soft breeze. I miscalculated the return location and had to motor a ways, came in about 15 minutes late, Mark was gracious about it. He also helped on docking. All in all a great experience.

Mark and Bob are an excellent team. They made our group feel comfortable while providing an instructional class followed by an awesome hands-on sailing experience. If you’re new to sailing or want to brush up on your skill set, I would recommend the Sag Harbor Sailing School!

Sail on Noyack Bay, and perhaps up into Shelter Island Sound or East into Peconic Bay...great stretches of water for a few hours sailing. The Pearson Ensign is a fine 23' keel boat for 1--6 people, either bareboat or with a captain. They also offer lessons, and the staff are helpful and friendly. I keep coming back for more.

My husband and I are somewhat experienced sailors looking to get our ASA certification, and we chose Sag Harbor Sailing. I'm so glad we did! From hands on instruction, to two beautiful days of sailing on an Ensign, we simply had a great time. Mark was extremely knowledgeable and capable and we felt totally secure with him, even with Hurricane Lee threatening to cut our time short! We'd do it the same all over again. Thank you for an amazing experience!

The instructor was excellent - very knowledgeable, patient, and nice. The preparation was also excellent - my wife and I both passed our exams with scores of 99. 80 was the minimum passing score. We had little prior knowledge, but read the provided book and paid attention in class and on the boat.

Really great experience. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in learning how to sail. Our instructor, Mark, was amazing and super patient. We had never stepped on a sailboat before and after two days passed our ASA 101, and feel comfortable sailing on our own.

My family had a wonderful time on a sunset sail with Captain Mark!
Felt completely safe even with my 7 month pregnant daughter on board with us. Mark was confident, kind, and entertaining. He knows the waters we sailed in very well and we enjoyed every moment.
Thanks Sag Harbor Sailing!
