You need a sag harbor village parking sticker to pArk in the lot here and i guess that keeps the crowds down. This is a great spot to swim (despite the "no swimming" signs), and a great spot for dogs (across from the parking lot). Its also an easy walk to the cliffs at Barcelona Neck if you dont mind getting a bit wet crossing the shallow creek (about half way between Havens and the cliffs).

I've read a few reviews which made Havens sound like it was actually IN Sag Harbor. If you go by foot, be prepared to walk about 25 minutes from Main Street. It's rather small, but nice

This one is reached by driving through a residential housing area - well worth it as it’s Fanta and deserted in February- it’s a bit stony!

Havens Beach, also known as "Tides," is calm, safe and shallow for little ones searching for scallops and hermit crabs along its edge. Having lifeguard and swings, it's a wonderful little spot where parents don't have to worry. Only concern: plenty of seaweed, but that only means the water is healthy.

We walked from a public parking area near Sag Harbor Village to Havens Beach. The only sign of life was an automated parking system charging $15. There was a sign saying "UNPROTECTED BEACH AREA" in blue letters followed by "SWIMMING IS PROHIBITED" in red letters. The sand was "natural" with shells and small stones but the murky water with seaweed was ok for wading. Looking to the left and right of Havens Beach I saw many private beaches with people swimming and playing so I think the water quality was fine for human recreation. There's a public restroom but I wasn't brave enough to go inside. It didn't appear to be at all well maintained but, to be fair, I don't know that for a fact. There's an outdoor shower next to each restroom where you can rinse sand from your feet. On the beach side of the rest rooms appears something I've never seen before: a long aluminum bench with a sign saying "No Sitting" in both English and Spanish. So of course I was careful not to sit on it while my wife rinsed her feet.
As I walked back across the weed-filled, parched field to retrieve our rental car I caught myself wondering what city council decisions over the decades led to a nearly abandoned, UNPROTECTED public beach in a stunningly wealthy part of the island. Had it been bustling and popular at one time? Had it been too popular leading to complaints from private property owners? Were there no lifeguards available for hire in Sag Harbor? Next time I'm in town I'll ask around.

Its a cute beach that you can go for a walk in the off season. In the summer you need a beach pass. There is a circle that you walk around and benches on the sand to sit on.

Great beach to watch the 4th of July fireworks. Great parking and facilities. Playground for the kids too

I could not swim but we only lived two blocks away and my parents brought me here because it was SAFE. Seaweed - yes. Undercurrent - no. Waves - no. Shallow - yes. I am now in my seventies and still cannot swim but I still go to Havens Beach. Please visit and make your own memories. The yatchs have descended and changed the scenery, but just turn your gaze to the right and find where Sag Harbor's peace still resides. Enjoy!

We have a 4 and 6 yr old and this is their favorite beach. Sand is rocky and it is not nice from adult standpoint, but great for kids. They found hermit crabs and a conch and keep asking to go back. We went to 6 different beaches.

Now its a glorified playground. The town has prohibited swimming and there are no longer lifeguards on duty. Right next to a marina - so its a bit weird to "swim" next to yachts. The water is gray too - for beach fun, better off go to Long beach, about 2 miles away
