Took the family here while visiting Rochester. Signed up for the Game Room only to find out it had the lowest success rate; 18%. My hopes were not to set any time records but to just escape. Well, we got to with time to spare! It was great to see the family work together to solve all the puzzles. Everyone of us said they had a great time! Planning to do this again at other family get togethers.

So great to hear you had a great time, we look forward to your return to TGER of Rochester. With each room having it own difficulty level it would be fun to see your group try another room.

For my husbands birthday, our closest friends wanted to get together for a fun activity followed by dinner and drinks. We chose The Great Escape Room because it was close to many of our favorite restaurants but we were truly delighted with the experience. The staff was friendly, the registration/sign-in process was simple, and Dr. Watson’s infirmary was brilliant. It was challenging and exciting but more rewarding than successfully escaping was reflecting on how strong our friendship is and how well we work together as a result; I can’t think of a better way to celebrate your birthday.

It was a pleasant surprise the challenge you face when inside the room. The key is to use the hints given ever 10 minutes. Definitely will go again to a different room.

Having been to 5 other Escape Rooms, throughout the country and in Toronto, all of which were very well done, this one did not come close to the others. The first mystery was finding the location...no signage, not clearly marked, in a non-descript building. Then, there was not a "reason" we were solving the mystery and trying to escape except simply or the sake of escaping. In other Escape Rooms, we were solving a murder or figuring out who the spies were or determining why the expedition leader had been kidnapped and trying to get him back. There was no compelling reason for anything in this Escape Room. One clue did not lead to another, there were just separate puzzles that needed to be solved independently of one another. Not great for working as a group. Lastly, since our visit was the last of the night, the staff member asked if we minded if she began cleaning up while we were still in the room. Very disappointing.

As a fan of escape rooms, you no doubt are already aware that all escape rooms are different. One of the ways in which our escape rooms differ from others is that some of our escape rooms are not "linear" puzzles. (Linear puzzles are as you describe, where one clue leads to another.) In escape rooms that have linear puzzles to solve, there is a tendency for the smartest people in the room to dominate and solve the puzzles while the others follow them around - having less fun as a consequence. Since our rooms have the capacity to have 10 or more escaping at one time, our escape rooms are designed to allow for multiple puzzles paths to be solved simultaneously, allowing for all to participate in the escape puzzle solving process. All escape rooms have the end goal of escaping the room within the time allotted, and they all seem to have a varying degree of involvement in how much the story or theme comes into play within the room escape challenge. I appreciate your opinion that we can improve in this area.

My family (kids ages 8, 11, 13) was so excited to try this place out over Feb. break. I called to make a reservation and was told we'd have to book the entire room (10 people) for our family of only five people. The worker told me over the phone that it isn't fair for adults to have to be in the room with kids under the age of thirteen. Unfortunately our family couldn't afford a $280 private room and we couldn't go. It's not a very kid-friendly place. It would be nice if they had a room for famlies with kids...I'm sure it'd be a really cool experience for people of all ages.

This was a lot of fun! Never been to an escape room before, but this really met expectations (10/10)! It was challenging enough- we did escape but just barely! Highly recommended! Staff are very helpful and nice!!

Well run escape room with several different puzzles and clues that needed to be solved. We started late due to earlier groups running late, but once we started it was well run, and definitely challenging with a real need for team members to work together and approach different puzzles.

First time in an Escape Room and it was awesome. Definitely forces you to think and utilize your teammates. Employees were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back again and try another room.

We greatly enjoyed our escape room experience - The President's Bunker - at the Great Escape Room in Rochester, NY. It was a very challenging escape room - we escaped in just over 54 minutes and it was a well designed and challenging room. This is the 13th escape room I have done and definitely one of the best. There were 5 of us and our "Secret Service Agent in Charge" - Alyssa did a good job. I highly recommend this room.

It depends on which room you are in. The hospital room is smaller than the others so maybe start with a larger room. Ask when you book it. You are active immediately and like the others said it gets intense and focused which can be a good thing maybe. You know your son best.

What is the cost for this attraction per person? Is there a discount per person for multiple rooms? Is the cost for a private party more than booking as individuals? Is there a discount on the price if we book 10 or more for a private party? How far in advance can we book?

Cost ends up being $32/person if less than 10 people. We were told that there is a 10% discount if you register 10 people. There currently is only one room -library- at the Rochester location. They are hoping to add another room in a few weeks according to employees there. You can book in advance. Go to the website and check out the available dates on their calendar.
