My husband and I visit here often. We love both their varied permanent collections and the interesting traveling exhibits. Each Sunday afternoon, an organ student from the nearby Eastman School of Music presents a short lecture-recital on their charming Broque organ. This is definitely one of Rochester's gems. We always bring our out-of-town guests here, and they love it.

My wife and I have visited many art museums in the US and Europe. The Memorial Art Gallery is one of the best small/medium size museums that we have visited. The collection includes many fine American and European paintings. There is also an area devoted to Asian art. The galleries are spacious and the works are well lighted. The building... More

Love visiting this museum and its permanent collection. But the new Robert Polidori photography show is a special bonus. Polidori shows interior spaces that have been ravaged by man and/or nature. Almost every image shows a doorway or window into another space. It's a super interesting exhibition and worth a visit.

This is a lovely gem in Rochester. We attended an event for students here. The docent was incredibly knowledgable and friendly and was excellent with teenage kids. The museum has plenty of different styles of artwork, so there is something for everyone. The students paid $4 each, so in this regard, it was very affordable. I'm not sure what the... More

The MAG as the locals call it has a lot to offer. The exhibits are always changing. The last one I saw was Ebony's famous collection. This was quite a change for the museum. One thing that is wonderful is the many family days they offer the public. From African American Day, Asian Day, Kwaanza Day to Hispanic Family Day... More

I moved to Rochester after living my entire life in the nation's capital of museums, Washington, DC. Plainly nothing can compare to what is available in a major city in the US, but I find this collection to be lovely, both with painters and sculptors of regional interest but also well-chosen examples of nationally important artistic movements. The weekly organ... More

The Memorial Art Gallery is one of Rochester's artistic gems. They recently renovated the exhibit area and it is more beautiful than it used to be! Many great works from famous artists are on display here. The docents are very knowledgeable and helpful. There is also a fantastic gift shop on the premises.

Don't think that because this is an art gallery that it is just for those who are artists. This Rochester gem has so many things to see that anyone, even a person with no artistic ability like myself can enjoy. Right off the bat, I was impressed that they had a 'scavenger hunt' for the kids to keep them engaged... More

Spent 3-4 hours there on 4//16. The cashier who checked us in was a delightful person and quickly provided me a wheel chair as i have difficulty walking long distances. My wife and I found the collection continually interesting. The eclectic nature of the collection made each gallery a new discovery. If I lived in Rochester I would definitely visit... More
