Goodbye Clover Lanes!
Jan 2016 • Friends
Once a year we go bowling and usually it is to Clover. I guess just bowling once/ year is why the sport is failing and Clover will be closing soon to be replaced by a Whole Foods. Over the years this place went from a very busy place focused on leagues to recreating itself to cater to open bowlers and parties.

In the last year we noticed their new set-up - balls are now kept behind the counter (were people stealing them?) and the revamped pricing scheme based on by the hour or by game. I think that "by the hour" pricing is more expensive. Per game is about $5.75 with free shoes.

Also if you want to make a reservation you have to have an online account and pay the whole amount upfront - what a pain! It can be alot of money tied up until you actually bowl if you have a big group.

The Saturday night we bowled it was mobbed, lucky we did have a reservation for the 12 of us (three lanes). The check-in process was absolute chaos. Perhaps the staff knows the end is near and they no longer care. At least that seemed to be the case with the manager on duty - she was rude - terrible customer service.

It is too bad that another alley will be closing, esp. one that is so convenient.

Nice modern lanes, other attractions too
Jun 2015 • Solo
I was in Clover Lanes again about a month ago. It is still a clean and modern place to take the family for a fun (but not cheap) afternoon of bowling. All the lanes are scored electronically, and there are "bumpers" on all lanes if you decide to take the little folk along for the sport. There are also libations available for kids and grown-ups as well, along with a bar for those who choose to grab an alcoholic beverage. This is a nice bowling alley that we'll be sad to lose next year, when it is taken down for a new restaurant/shopping complex.

God place to bowl, but probably closing soon
Mar 2015 • Solo
This is still a good place to go bowling...kind of pricey, but with nice lanes and a decent snack shop. However, you should know that it will be closing this year in order to build a new shopping plaza, so if you are attached to this place, you might want to visit it one last time before it becomes a part of Rochester history.

Great place to bowl
Mar 2014 • Family
I took a youth group of teenagers here for a group outing, and it was great. The price is reasonable, the scoring works well, and there is fun music that isn't too loud. There was some confusion with payment, but the agents at the desk were fantastic and very understanding, so it worked out. I would recommend Clover Lanes.

Pretty decent lanes, about average
Feb 2013 • Family
We went bowling at Clover Lanes today, and the experiece was pretty decent, although about average for a bowling alley in a city like this. The lanes and the automatic scoring worked well, and the service was pretty good as well. They offer you a choice of paying per game or par hour, although with a per game charge of over $5.00, it hardly makes sense to go this route ever.

A few shortfalls we found at this place: for young kids, they have no half sizes in their shoes, wihch didn't end being a problem. Their adult sizes are a bit strange, though. I normally take either a 10 or a 10 1/2, but here I needed an 11 1/2, so go figure. Also, they had no 16 lb. balls, which is strange for an alley. But they had quite a few 15 pounders, which are almost as good, I guess.

Bumpers are available on all lanes, in case you have young kids in tow, and the place is very kid friendly. I will come back.

Good family place with food and music
May 2012 • Family
Prices are good. You have the option of renting the lane by the hour or per person, so if you have a bigger family or group, it's a good deal to rent by the hour. Shoe rentals are about a buck. They have a variety of food available to buy. They have plenty of available times for open bowling and it's a big place, so we've always gotten a lane. There was a glitch on our lane when we were paying by the hour and the desk employees gave us some passes to come back and bowl for free. That's good customer service. The place was a little dirty, inside and out, but not a show stopper.

Nice, well run bowling alley
Apr 2012 • Family
Clover Lanes is one of the cleaner and nicer bowling alleys in the areas. The bar area is nice with a good selection of beer and mixed drinks. The lanes are in great shape and all the technology works like it is supposed to. The food is pretty standard alley fare. If I were to take someone from out of town bowling, I would take them here.

VERY expensive, mediocre service
Feb 2012 • Family
I took my daughter and her friend here recently. It was extremely expensive; about $40 for three of us to bowl 2-3 games each. The service at the snack bar was also very slow. This place has gone downhill over the past five years.
