LIONS GATHERING
Nov 2019
One of the members of our Lions group invited us to come there and taste the wine and have some cheese and meat dishes
The white wine is crisp and light to the taste and their red is smooth and fruity Hoping to become a member

A gem of a tasting experience!
Oct 2018 • Couples
We went wine tasting on Long Island, and followed a 'tip' from a local and went to Roanoke. It was a surprise! The wines were very good, and well made--the best of the 4 place we visited. We sensed a passion for wine making that spilled over into the bottle. We bought a case -- shipping it to Ohio was not possible, so we're picking the case up in Illinois.

Nice wine - Nice folks - Disappointing Function!
Apr 2018 • Couples
We generally do like the wines at Roanoke. Even though red wines on Long Island are very challenging, this vineyards does the best job with reds. The people are super nice at both of their locations - always friendly and helpful. We do have a couple of issues with Roanoke. First, we did an event last year called the Hill Climb. We loved walking through the vineyard sipping wine and having small bites at a number of stations. This was to be followed by a buffet style dinner. This was not a cheap event. Unfortunately they did not plan adequately the amount of food for the number of guests. By the time we were called up there was really no meatballs left and food was cold. Secondly, their wine club needs more flexibility. It would be nicer if we had more of a choice in what we receive. We are seriously considering dropping from their club for these 2 reasons.

One of my favorite places

The Sound Avenue location is only for members but their Love Lane location in Mattituck is in a great location right near one of my favorite restaurants. The wine that this vineyard produces is very good and their staff is friendly and professional. I have been a member for a while so I might be biased but this is one of my two favorite vineyards on the island.

Members Only Winery but you can do a tasting at the Tasting Room on Love Lane in Mattituk!
Jul 2016 • Friends
We love Roanoake wines. The Members Only Tasting Room is quite nice! Ten of us went with a member to spend the afternoon sitting in the garden of the vineyard. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They allowed us to bring our own food with the stipulation that we clean up and take our garbage away with us.

All the wines were very good. We particularly liked the White Brio, the Rose, and the Merlot.

We will certainly return in the future!

Ive Been to Many Vineyards, This is the Best One!
Nov 2015 • Couples
I have been to many vineyards around the nation and my Uncle even operates his own. Roanoke Vineyards, hands down, is one of the best all around. From the delicious, flavorful wine, to the hosts that serve you the wine and tastings. The atmosphere on their north and south fork locations are very comfortable and cozy, you feel like there is no rush to leave. The prices for tastings and the wines are very very reasonable. I've been in there when they have large groups and the hosts take care of them in a hospitable manner without breaking a sweat. If you are out for wine tasting you MUST stop here! You'll be glad you did!!!

Beautiful Tasting Room on Love Lane
Nov 2015 • Couples
On Friday my wife and I enjoyed a wonderful tasting of Roanoke's wines at their downtown tasting room on Love Lane in Mattituck. All of the wines were delicious and the gentleman conducting our tasting was friendly and informative. The tasting room itself is very attractive and comfortable with sofas, chairs, and tables at which customers can relax with glasses or bottles of wine. Of course they also have a tasting bar. They sell the wines of several other area wineries with which Roanoke has affiliations. We tasted only the wines of Roanoke Vineyards and were quite impressed by their complexity. We bought four bottles of different wines and look forward to visiting the winery itself (perhaps ten miles west) on our next trip to the North Fork.

Great Wines, Tasting Room Manager a Jerk!
Oct 2015 • Couples
Been stopping here for many years and we really like the wines and have many a nice visits, chatting with the owner Richie once or twice, who by the way is very engaging. We always considered Roanoke one of our favorite East End wines, maybe influenced by their winemaker Roman Roth from Wolffer Estate where we are club members.

Stopped by this past Sunday on the way back from New England. Ordered a glass for my wife, a tasting for me and a cheeseboard. The tasting room was moderately busy as it was chilly outside and we took a table in the back room. After settling in at our table I walked back up to the wine bar to pick-up our cheese board I asked for my second tasting out of four. I had not yet finished the first but want to take the second tasting back as long as I was up…

After waiting a few minutes one of the servers “how can I help you", with my receipt in hand, I asked for the second tasting and his response was “where’s your glass”, "at my table" I replied, abruptly “would you please go get it” he answered. Well the conversation went south from there… Something about their policy to use the same glass for all four tasting pours and running out of glasses and not having the tasting room littered with a million glasses… He ended this one-sided confrontation with “no I won’t give you another glass to use, and you’ll get the tasting when you bring your glass back here like I told you twice already”.

Why I never! Seriously, everyone has a bad day but when I took one of the other servers aside a few minutes later to register our complaint, the server with the attitude, who turns out to be the manager Chris, starts chirping again. In front of the other customers we had a not so friendly exchange, which I for one regret, but it should have never gotten this far. He should have handled this better and I will give the winery office a call this week, as I’m a small business owner too and would want to know if one of my employees acted this way.

After reviewing the rates on this winery, they all "sound true” including the comments on the wine bar staff, and Chris, rude to say the least!
