About
Opened late in the 1980's, the Douglaston Salmon Run was developed as a low pressure, catch and release fishing environment to maximize the outdoor experience of every guest. Two and a half miles of private waters fishing offers a world class sports fishing destination with seven nearby lodges available year round for guests. Over the years, the DSR has evolved into a fishing experience for every type of angler, but definitely those who value natural surroundings as much as catching fish. Fly fishermen, casters, and drift boat fishing types come to the DSR for the catch and release, the atmosphere of respectful outdoor sporting, and for the attentive staff who work year round to keep the DSR clean, accessible and a good value.

Nice place
Nov 2019 • Friends
I read a lot about the place on the website before coming. You are able to spread out, but all the best holes will have quite a few people fishing in them. It is not as bad as fishing in town. The staff are all real nice and you can see them coming down stream in their bright green hats. I will say I enjoyed fishing there even though it was quite expensive.

Steelhead Fishing in the Comforts of Home
Nov 2019
This past weekend I traveled to Pulaski NY with members of Candlewood Valley chapter of Trout Unlimited, for our annual Steelhead fishing trip on the Salmon River. We booked 5 of the 6 lodges at the Douglaston Salmon Run. Our group of 6 anglers stayed at the Salmon Run Lodge on Route 13 just west of the town of Pulaski. The lodge is an older farm house on a magnificent piece of farmland that sits immediately south of the Salmon River. The house is beautifully appointed with plenty of space for 6 adult men and all their gear. For the fisherman it’s perfect. There was a nice “gear room” where all our waders, boots, rods and other streamside stuff could be stored. A large kitchen with everything necessary to prep meals. A formal dining room and spacious living room. 5 bedrooms upstairs meant that our group only had 2 guys that had to pair up. The other 4 had single rooms. I would have given the place 5 stars except for the unusable fireplace in the living room and wood stove in the kitchen. My only recommendation to DSR would be to replace the wood fireplace with a propane one, and just take out the wood stove in the kitchen and move the refrigerator to that spot. If you stay at Salmon Run Lodge don’t forget your fly tying tools and materials. There’s a perfect room/library for tying up flies to replace the ones you’ll lose to the bottom of the Salmon River.

Not that great
Sep 2018 • Solo
Welcome center not very welcoming. Asked best place to fish and was told "in the river". For 75 bucks I'd at least expect a map or some hints. First time visitor, you are pretty much on your own to determine where to go and without a map it isn't obvious. Was much more crowded than they would have you believe from their advertising. Other free areas in Pulaski were less crowded on the same day. There were a lot of fish, but the best areas were definitely shoulder to shoulder with other anglers. Decent facilities, I appreciate the concept but much more crowded than advertised. First time going and I won't be back.

A Trip to Fishing Paradise
Sep 2017 • Friends
When i crave to fly fish for large salmon or trout near my home I always travel to the DSR. Spectacular fish; beautiful surroundings; and respectful and like-minded anglers. Of course, there are other spots to fish on the Salmon River. For me, I always choose the DSR because the fishing experience is consistently memorable and rejuvenating. You might want to try it too!!!

Waste of taxpayers and fisherman's money.

Pay to fish in a the premier stretch of river that is stocked with your tax dollars and licensing fees. DSR continues to encroach on areas that were previously free to fish. What a joke, save your money and find the free local fishing spots, many areas are not crowded. Don't fall for their elitist scam.

A fishing trip to remember
Sep 2017 • Solo
Fishing at the DSR offers an unforgettable, private water experience. You will find a high quality, low pressure, and easily accessible fishing experience. The DSR is the first 2.5 miles of the Salmon River, where steelhead, King and Coho salmon, and brown trout first enter the river. Fresh from Lake Ontario, the fish are unpressured and ready for action. This Bing Earth map shows all the great fishing holes, destined to give you the best chance to meet up with all the fight you can handle. There is a limited number of passes sold so do not hesitate to go online and get your pass. I just went there and will now return. I got a number of hook ups and landed 2 Coho salmon one about 12 lbs. and one 15 lbs. This was the greatest fishing I have ever had. I will be back again soon. I traveled from MA

World Class Fishing Experience
Sep 2016 • Solo
As a fly fisherman, Guide and Charter Captain of 27 years, I have seen tons of accommodations and fisheries. The DSR property and staff are among the very best in these United States. The DSR is a prime piece of water offering real a chance to catch trophy trout and salmon surrounded by the beautiful autumn foliage in Upstate NY. The N.Y. State DEC has built a world class fishery and it runs right through the center of the Douglaston Salmon Run Property. I have been fishing this exquisite property since the late 1980's and find myself coming back year after year.

The Joy of Fishing
Oct 2016
Always fish at the Douglaston Salmon Run (DSR). Respectful anglers, spirit rejuvenating time walking the river, and friendly staff. Oops, I didn't mention the catching: big and fresh fish that challenge your talents and stamina. A once in a lifetime experience! Yet, close enough to my home in Ithaca, NY to enjoy many times a year. Not to be missed.
