We walked over to the walkway from the nearby Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel where we were all staying while in town for a wedding. We walked in the morning, the weather was brisk, but not too cold. The views of the river were lovely. I had never been on a bridge like that before. We walked along a trail after past... More

I did not go across the bridge although it appeared to be very safe. I watched others go across. It was about 59 degrees therefore I did not want to take that long walk. The scenery however was gorgeous.

I will take any chance I can get to walk across a waterway. This one did not disappoint! We had attempted to try out the walkway over a year ago, when we happened by, by chance, but poor weather and high winds closed the bridge as we approached. Ever since then, I was determined to return. This time the weather... More

We decided to have a visit and see what the bridge was all about. I'm truly impressed with the upkeep of this bridge. It was amazing to be able to walk over the Hudson River. The view was beautiful although it's late fall it was breath taking. So many people out with their families and dogs. My biggest complaint is... More

Great view of the river; with plenty of informational signs along the way (history, nature, story of the bridge itself). It's wide and offers a smooth, even walkway. Parking is easy and free. The bridge is an important landmark, and I'm glad it was put to this kind of community use.

Well worth taking the walk although we did not walk the entire length. Walkway is divided with pylons so there is no congestion. Most cyclists were considerate but there was one exception. The view is great!

They spent a lot of time and money getting the rail trail repaired and walk-able, and it was worth it. The trial is a pretty easy walk, not a lot of big hills, so it should be easy enough if you're in ok shape. You can just do the hudson river, but going beyond is quite nice. Don't forget you... We parked on Parker Avenue, and walked west from there on the rail trail/walkway. It's really an interesting feeling as you look down on the town far below, as you approach the river, and then of course as you walk across the river, high up above it. The interesting thing is that the bridge, with all the support is 100%... More

Wonderfully maintained, safe and the best view of the Hudson and Hudson River Valley that you can find. It is an easy walk, bike or stroll. Parking is plentiful on each side of he river.
