About
We brew beer in the styles of the United Kingdom: England, N. Ireland, Scotland and Wales. LyonSmith Brewing Company is a cultural journey in the heart of the Finger Lakes! We are behind and underneath the Water Street Wine and Spirits store. We were established in 2013 and opened Memorial Day Weekend of 2015. We were founded on the basic premise that we wanted "to make beer worth drinking, a Company worth working for, and a Community worth living in". This is more than just our motto, it's our way of life!

Excellent English Style brews
Jul 2018 • Friends
This is a great little pub featuring more English Style Brews. I really enjoyed the brews here and this is a little different than traditional style American breweries.

Wasn't my favorite
Apr 2018 • Friends
Among the beer drinkers on our tour, this beer was not a favorite. We appreciate the uniqueness of the beer; however, I would have to consider this tasting just an experience. The staff was helpful, kind and accomodating.

Great hidden treasure

We boated up the canal. Sadly the dock closest to the brewery is closed but we walked a few blocks from the other dock. The brewery is quaint. One owner did our tasting. We learned much about English brews. We tried all 8 varieties.

Would have stayed here all day if we weren't doing wine tours!!! Dave Smith was a gracious & informative host. Craft beer (& wine) available. In fact, he was brewing as we visited. So much warmth & knowledge in this place -- a must see!!!!

Well worth a stop
Apr 2017 • Couples
The beer is very good and there is quite a few so you are sure to find one you like. We have been here a couple times and it is my favorite brewery with the best beer in the area. I especially like the Red ale. The owner is friendly and willing to talk. There is a map that you can pin where you came from, if from out of state or out of the area. If you are on the way to the Wind Mill, this is a definite place you should stop for a beverage before or after you go.

Good Local Brew
Oct 2016 • Couples
Stopped by to check out this local brewery and was not disappointed. They offer a variety of English style beers to suite most any palate. They are located in Penn Yan next to the Water Street Wine Bar so you can get a two for one with your visit.

Stop in!
Oct 2016 • Couples
Definitely stop by and sample the beers here. The beers have unusual combinations that are favorful and unexpected. Even though the store was closing soon, the brew master took his time and we never felt rushed. The spot is below the main street. . .so we didn't see it at first. When you are on Water Street, turn into the lower parking lot off of 130 Water Street and enter the store near the canal...would go again!

Great beer
Aug 2016
We arrived about 20 minutes before they were due to close at 8 pm but we never felt rushed doing the tasting. There isn't a tour just the ability to sample all of the beers available. The staff were very knowledgeable and were very keen to hear our thoughts on the beer, being visitors from Britain.Great selection of T shirts etc You get to keep the shot glasses unfortunately only two of them survived the trip home in the suitcase. Would recommend a visit if you are doing a Brewery Tour.

Great little spot tucked away against the canal. Really reasonable priced tasting and growler costs. We drove down from Geneva just to go here and it was worth it. The owners/hosts were very welcoming and willing to talk us through the tasting. Great, different beers - not the typical American style IPAs, pale ales and Belgian inspired stuff. Instead you get a really nice selection of British-esque brews. Would highly recommend a stop even if you're not in the immediate area.
