Seneca Shores’ website says something about medieval wines, and this was our first visit, so we had no idea what to expect. The guy doing our tasting was very knowledgeable, and the interior is kind of decorated like a castle. For a first visit, we were surprised with how much we enjoyed this place. It’ll definitely be on our rotation... More

Walked in and it IMMEDIATELY smelled like sewage or like you were in a giant port-a-potty. The people were nice but I couldn't focus on the tastings which could've been good but the smell was overwhelming and there were so many flies. Wouldn't have posted this because it could've been a one-time fluke but when we got back on the... More

We offer our sincere apologies that your visit was less than fantastic. The timing of your visit obviously coincided with a "particular but unpleasant" construction project. We truly hope that you will visit us once more, on your return visit to the area, so that you can enjoy the changes we've made to create a Wonderful Medieval wine experience for... More

Very nice people and a fun place to visit. I have been here a few times over the years and it is never my first stop. I am having one of their wines as I write this and it tasted better in the winery the other day.

Thank Mark M

Wine was good but had a cat odor because of the cats they have in there. We haven't been back since our first trip up last year... We didn't find a wine we loved and had to go back for.

Thank Amanda T
Management response:

We are so very sorry to hear about your less than wonderful experience. We do, indeed, have one 16 year old mascot cat, Amulet, (her name is on all of our bottles of wine) that often socializes with our visitors. She's an outdoor cat, so we've never had an odor problem in the winery, but this is something that we... More

My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary in the Finger Lakes' region. We of course had to do the winery tour. Seneca Shores was our 3rd or 4th winery of the day. The experience could not have been worse. The vibe immediately when you walk in is noticeably different than the other wineries we visited. The other wineries there... More

With another couple, we arrived to this much-hyped winery near Penn Yan. We sampled a flight of red and white wines. The only one worthy of purchase was a Chardonnay; the rest were not good. The staff waived the tasting fee if we bought a bottle of wine. Done that, didn't get the t-shirt or cardboard crown, and not returning.... More

This winery is right off of Rt 14 and has a medieval theme. There is a $2 tasting fee but it is refunded if a bottle of wine is purchased. There are several varieties of reds, whites and blushes. The staff was very friendly. This winery also offers tasting at the Wind Mill in Penn Yan on Saturdays so if... More

The staff were wonderful here - they really made the tasting! There is a wide selection of wines here, so this would be a good choice for a couple or a group with a range of palates. I prefer drier wines, while my husband prefers semi-sweet or sweet wines, so this winery worked better than most. I loved their dry... More

This winery has a very large selection of wines, whites and reds, sweet and dry, as well as fruit and port, so this is perfect for a group with varied tastes. They have reserve wines, so there really is a wine for everyone. I thought some of the reds were a good value and bought both dry reds, blueberry wine,... More
