My visit to Red Tail Ridge was my first winery trip since any post-COVID reopenings in New York State. So I want to first commend them for their safety/health protocols. Tastings are by appointment only, groups from 1-6 people, scheduled online. You are met at the door by staff who remain gloved and masked the entire time. Appointments are 40 minutes apart to allow time for sanitizing. Thank you for making this effort!

I strongly encourage you to consider Red Tail Ridge if you want to taste some of the best of what the Finger Lakes have to offer. And, if Jeffrey is conducting your tasting, you will be exceptionally well-guided through your tasting experience. He was very knowledgeable about the wines and “toured” me though classic Finger Lakes choices like Riesling and more unexpected choices like Teroldego. Functionally this was a private tasting — an exceptional value at $10, only made more so by the quality of the wines. Jeffrey was knowledgeable, friendly, and kind to my sweet but occasionally verbose Schnauzer who sampled no wine but did enjoy walking around the grounds afterwards. (Thank you, Jeffrey)

The delicious dry Pinot Noir Rosé was perfect for the hot, humid day — some of that came home with me, as did Riesling and Pinot Noir. I look forward to going back to taste more of their wines in the near future. Red Tail Ridge is worth your time, and also worth far more than their tasting fee. Check them out.

I liked almost all of the wines I tried here, so much so I would even say they were the best I tried this year on Seneca lake. They offer mostly dry wines and use some lesser-known varietals. We especially liked the dry Rieslings. Also of interest were the Dornfelder and Blaufrankisch. The tasting room itself is small, and we had our bartender to ourselves. We were able to take our time tasting and that helped make a better decision of what to buy. The only downside was The higher prices. The wines themselves are higher in price than average for the area as is the tasting fee. For that reason I may not recommend to someone on a budget. There is a 5% discount on four bottles or more, but that doesn’t even match tax.

Very good wines and our hosts were very knowledgable. I strongly recommend that you make reservations ahead of time as they are a small operation with a limited tasting area. We initially just showed up (on a Tuesday) and they had no availability so we easily reserved a slot for later in the day and returned. It was worth it!

Red Tail Ridge was recommended for us to check out by an excellent staff member from a neighboring vineyard...his recommendations had been stellar thus far so we were looking forward to the experience.
The tasting room is small (it appears that a new space is under early construction?? The view of the lake would be great from this vantage point) and sits back off of the road but amongst the vineyards - really nice. It was just after 10am and when we walked in, there was one other couple doing a tasting. We were asked if we had a reservation and we did not (this is also part of the info that is featured on a large board when you walk in.) I'm thinking that not they wish to make their tastings more personal thus the requirement but the young lady that was there could have easily handled us but not to be.
We ended up selecting just one wine each that we wanted to try and headed outside to their garden area. Both ( a dry rose and a white called "Good Karma") were very good. We bought a bottle of GK and headed out...
We respect the desire to have reservations - if that's your policy, we totally get it. Only reason I gave 4 stars. Definitely worth a stop though...

I visited multiple wineries along Seneca Lake and this experience was amongst my favorites. I booked ahead online with no issues. They have a set up where a person stands across from you with plexiglass in between, and they wear a mask while pouring and explaining each wine you are tasting. Every wine I tasted was wonderful and I happily left with a couple of bottles in hand. Very impressed with how they are handling pandemic tastings. Highly recommend!

This was one of our pre-selected choice on a winery trip and the most disappointing. The drive way to reach the tasting room was a long dirt road that was not well kept. This is a small, family owned vineyard and winery however the gentleman who was serving the tastings was not a family member. He was less than polite and a bit aloof. I enjoy wine and while my knowledge is limited compared to those in the business, I know enough to appreciate the craft and most wines. I was insulted by his condescending tone. The tasting room is very small and we were the only two there. A couple arrived as we were finishing. It was clear this gentleman could not handle more than two or three customers at one time. Sorry to say this was the only winery where we did not make a purchase. With all the wineries available to visit, don't waste your time with this stop.

It was our first time visiting Red Tail Ridge Winery. We booked ahead and were greeted at the door. It was a lovely tasting. I really felt like we got to experience the wines and did not feel rushed. We learned so much from our tasting host (cannot remember his name.) He was so knowledgeable and really knew the wines well. The wines are very good and the entire experience was delightful!

I feel so privileged to live in the Finger Lakes and have these amazing wine experiences in our neighborhood.

Rude and unwelcoming staff. There are so many other wineries that are pleasant and friendly. I should have paid attention to the reviews on Yelp that mentioned rude staff. For my friends and I, a wine tour is a little day trip away from the everyday busy life and there is no need to waste time with business owners who are inconsiderate. Visit a different winery on Seneca.

As stated on our sign, our brochure, and our website; we have a no limo no bus policy that's we must follow for all groups. If we bent the rules for one group we would have to bend the rules for all limos and that would make our policy null and void. Parking at the end of the driveway by our no limo sign is also making the policy null and void for all other limo groups. Therefore, we enforce our policy equally to all groups. We would gladly accept any group coming in normal size vehicles. We apologizes you were not able to come taste due to our policy.

We were greeted at the door by a lady with poor social skills who obviously lacked training in customer service. Most of the nearby wineries greeted us warmly, despite being part of a large group. So sad that Red Tail Ridge has chosen to bring down the finger lakes by having such crappy service. I would never recommend them to others. If they were willing to send us a public apology, that would be the smart thing to do to protect their future business dealings from suffering.

We will talk to our employees to make sure our no limo no bus policy is delivered in a way that is understandable for all parties politely. However, no exceptions are made to the policy.
