About
At Rooster Hill Vineyards we set our sights high to grow the very best grapes to make the highest quality wines. We take special care in determining the processes we use to make our wines which have earned us high marks by publications including Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast. On our Savine Estate, 4,000 feet of drainage tile is installed to ensure grapes have the best possible conditions to develop their root structure. From these techniques, we can harvest quality grapes that balance between flavor, texture, acid and tannin structure. We truly believe wine is made in the vineyard before it enters our state-of-the-art fermentation process and then control aged in our superlative French and American oak barrels. Enjoy our wines in a variety of ways by visiting our vineyards for tours and tasting room experiences, through our exclusive wine club, at our several events or through purchase on our website. After your visit or first taste, we think you'll know how exquisite our wines are and why we savor, favor and honor them.

The winery is on an upper hill area with great breeze and view of the lake. No music. Set up for people attending 30-40 minute tastings. Food is limited to cheese cracker type of offering. Glasses given to take with tastings. Owner is friendly and professional.

Tastings are outside in several areas. We were seated on the patio, facing the lake. We chose a high-top table but they have other seating available.
Our servers were friendly but one didn't have the mask over his nose.
Wine tastings are grouped and price is per group. We got an additional introductory taste of cider and an ending taste of our choice.
Wine tastings come with a small mix of nuts, dry fruit and candy. We ordered a small charcutier (sausage, cheese, crackers and more of the mix) tray.
Wines were pretty good. We did buy one bottle to go.
Outside seats were spaced and customers we saw all were wearing masks .

Visited several wineries on our trip into the Finger Lakes region. Rooster Hill was one of our favorites. We thoroughly enjoyed the property, beautiful vineyards with unique grapes and the explanation of the production process. Our host Paul provided a fantastic tasting experience and we found some wines (more than some) which everyone in our group enjoyed. We would definitely come back and highly recommend a visit here when you are in the region.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. The smell was awful and there were fruit flies everywhere. They give you a list of wines, bring you a flight, and that’s it. No one talks to you about the wine or speaks to you about the winery. In addition, the taste of the wine and the temperature of the wine was absolutely awful. We will never be back.

We had our tasting outside and had a nice view of the lake. The servers were very attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the tasting but it would be nice if they invested in the flight glassware instead of the little plastic throw away cups. However it was still relaxing and we could watch the storm rolling in over the lake.

Gave it 1 star because I can't rate it a zero. The wines were very young. The "nose" of most of their wines was very off putting I had to use the dump bucket for my tasting pour. No one could tell you anything about the wines or wine making process. What a waste of twenty bucks for 2 tastings.

We loved all of the Red wines! We wish we lived around here so we could come back on a regular basis. We tasted a few of the whites and they were also good If you like a sweeter wine. We had lovers of both deep reds and sweet whites in our party. Both groups were very pleasantly pleased with our selections… and the views were awesome, too!

The wine tasting was a very pleasant experience here. There is a pretty view of Keuka Lake from the patio and one can have wine both indoors and outdoors. We had to pay a small price for the tasting here but we got to keep the glasses with logo. They are very proud of their award-winning Silver Pencil and other Estate wines.

This was the absolute worst wine tasting experience I have ever had.
My husband and I often come to the area for wine tasting and purchasing. We like to visit our favorites as well as try to find some new ones. Sometimes we join a large bus tour with friends, but on this trip my husband and I were joined by my brother and sister.
We decided to stop at Rooster Hill on our way to other wineries we had planned to visit.
my husband, brother and myself decided to try tastings as my sister looked around at the merchandise for sale. Our experience started out normal but I quickly noticed how snobby and rude our server was.
I didn't care for the first wine we tried, but my brother and husband did. But I was still willing to give them a try. In the process I told our server where we were headed and that it was my favorite winery.
While she poured our second tasting she told me that if I didn't like that one then I should just go on to my favorite winery. Seriously?
On the third tasting I noticed her pouring a normal amount for my brother, then she only put a small splash of wine into my glass and then she poured a normal amount for my husband. (All while looking down her nose and telling us how their wine was superior to others)
At this point the wine was tasting better to me, as I like the sweeter, less dry wines. I tried to keep an open mind, the mere splash she gave me could have been accidental.
By the time I watched her pour the fourth tasting the same way, I turned and walked away to avoid making a scene. I didn't even try the wine I was so furious.
I walked over to where my sister was picking out some items to purchase and told her how I was just treated. She was appalled and quickly returned the items to the shelves. She refused to buy anything from them after the way I was treated. As we were talking, our brother joined us and remarked at how he couldn't believe how that woman treated me. Then my husband joined us with the news that her name was Suzanne.
We walked out without any purchases, all because of this woman, Suzanne. Are they all like that? Would we have had a better experience with another server? I don't know but I will NEVER go there again. I will also warn everyone I know about this place. Save your time and money, skip this winery and try someplace else. Anywhere but Rooster Hill.

We visited approximately 30 wineries along the Keuka and Seneca Lake Wine Trails. For our money, this was one of the best quality vineyards. Their Reislings, Gewertzs., and Traminettes are spectacular. They are on par with NAPA, Sonoma and Washington state - where we have visited as well. Don't miss this jewel on the east side of Keuka Lake.
