My boyfriend and I rented kayaks through HRE the other day and really enjoyed our experience. We can't wait to return! Very friendly staff, great kayaks, beautiful surroundings to explore -- just be careful to check the tide times before you book your visit!

I came with a group of friends for a relaxing afternoon and got just that! The staff was incredibly accommodating and helpful - we got a great lesson mini lesson beforehand. Kayaks were in great condition and paddles were ultra light. You must stay in the lagoon area here - you cannot pass the breakwater into the part of the Hudson that has a current so this area is great place for beginners and those who are looking for a relaxing day on the river. No running water here - there is a port-a-potty out back, so if that kind of thing is not for you make sure to use the bathroom beforehand.

This was a great experience overall for my fiancé and I. The guys at the counter were very helpful, even though we didn't have a reservation they accommodated us immediately. The kayak was in excellent conditions and the Hudson River was calm and perfect for our level of experience. I would have given a 5 star to Hudson River Expeditions if it wasn't for the deplorable conditions of the bathroom. Looked like a cabin that wasn't cleaned in years and there wasn't running water either. I would recommend the kayak experience but use the restroom before leaving your hotel!

I am so sorry about the state of that bathroom! There should have been a closed sign on it. The NYS Parks is working to replace that composting toilet unit. There is a portapotty directly across from it that is maintained until that time. We have replaced the sign. You are correct that there is no running water at that park. We have hand sanitzer and wipes in the shop for customer use. There are plans for park improvement, which we hope will be underway soon. Until that time we agree with your suggestion to use the facilities before you come in to kayak with us.

My teen son and I went kayaking for the first time last year while camping and have been looking for an outfitter closer to where we live to go again. The Peekskill location for Hudson River Expeditions came up. HRE rents canoes, kayaks, and stand up paddleboards but also offers guided tours. We selected the 2 hour Islands Kayak Tour. The online reservation system is easy to book and we were sent suggestions on what to wear and bring for the experience. The Annsville Paddlesport Center is tucked away just after the Annsville traffic circle (blink and you've driven by it) but has a gorgeous park and launching dock. We arrived 30 minutes prior to our launch time to sign paperwork and be fitted for lifejackets. The leaders helped everyone find a kayak that fit them and did a demonstration on correct paddling technique and communication. The tour itself was very nice! We had about 8 people on the trip and 2 guides. The guides kept everyone together and were very friendly. The views from the river are spectacular! We paddled up the river near Bear Mountain Bridge and then went with the current back down to Peekskill. 2 hours went quickly! My son and I had a very fun morning together and are looking forward to more expeditions with HRE!
