This winery had beautiful views and beautiful grounds, but unfortunately their wines and service were not. It was a busy day and we were cattled into the bar for a tasting. We wanted to sit outside since it was beautiful so our wines were poured with no description of the wines and the server wrote the names of the wines on our glasses with a Sharpie pen that we couldn't even read. I rarely ever leave a glass of wine with anything in it, but we did not enjoy the wines here as well and didn't even finish our tasting. If you're looking for a great view and pretty grounds this is your place, if you're looking for good wines and service this is not.

Took our rented pontoon boat right to the beautiful dock outside the winery, picked up a bottle of their delicious rose, some plastic cups, and enjoyed the crisp, sweet wine at the waterfront picnic table. Several other cafe tables and tents were set up to space out tasters and wine lovers. Friendly staff helped make us feel safe while attempting to enjoy our first winery of the trip.

We decided to stop in for a glass or bottle because needing to make a reservation ahead of time for a flight was hard to do because of knowing exactly what time you could be there is difficult when on the trail. By the way they are the only ones on trail requiring you choose your flight before you even arrive. So we asked to sample a wine before purchasing the bottle and she reluctantly let us. She did not have the best customer service skills. They had some tables outside we could sit at to share our bottle but everything was in the sun and they did not have tents set up like other wineries to give some shade. Oh but wait they did have a tent set up but we could not sit there because that was only for people that did the $12 wine flights not for those that wanted to purchase a $20 plus bottle of wine to enjoy outside. They do have some nice wines I have enjoyed in the past but felt they were a little snooty and not accommodating. So we left for Thirsty Owl and always lovely there.

There were 12 of us split up into groups of 6 for the wine tastings on Saturday 6/27/2020. From the reservation system to check-in and wine tasting options (by the glass or bottles and soon flights again), everything went smoothly. We chose here because of the selection and quality. Everything was tasty! We would definitely go back! Thank you, Christine!

The tasting room sits down near the lake shore which is unusual for the wineries along Cayuga Lake, tasting room is large and atractive, staff is very knowledgable and the wines are among the tops in the Cayuga, Seneca and Kyuka Lake producers as heldrake has an excellant vintner who has been wth the winery for many years. I am praticulalry fond of he dry riesling, reserve meritage, cab franc and as a fan of all that is pinot gris...their is delightful. While I am not a fan of very sweet wines, Sheldrake is well recogized for its ice wines and for that reason alone, at least one of the many ice wines should be tasted.
