An open water cruise, for 1/140th of the price

This ferry has made our lives SO MUCH more enjoyable!! We have been traveling between Massachusetts and Long Island for over 5 years now ... On a weekly basis ... And this ferry service has kept us sane!! It's a great way to break up the trip AND avoid all the traffic ... And you can't beat it on a... More

Certainly not an inexpensive way, but you will avoid the city traffic. Reserve your space online prior to your trip, especially during the high season. You'll be happier knowing you won't get bumped if there is a crowd. I arrived early and found the loading process to be organized and orderly. The trip across the Sound to Connecticut was easy.... A long drive to Orient to find out should have made a reservation. Bridgeport Ferry has better capacity and system. No need to get out of car buy a ticket to drive fifteen feet to give it to attendant to get another ticket to give to attendant as driving on the boat. Time to replace the ferry with a tunnel... So we were visiting a friends parents in Long Island in NY and made it a family trip. For the drive home we decided to break it up and take the ferry to Mystic, CT just as something different to do. The ferry was quick and a smooth ride and we had a fun time. It also broke up the... More

Ferry services don't generally create a lot of wiggle room for this reviewer, as I regard them as strictly utilitarian. But, thanks to some lovely geography and long summer days, you get far more than your transportation money buys you when crossing Long Island Sound from the tip of L.I. to the eastern end of Connecticut. The views are lovely,... More

This place is a lot to make this is where I grew up. It's an easy way to get to New England or just have a nice day on the sound.

What a awful time on this ferry, drive my new car on the ferry , dent free, comes off the ferry with a dent on side of Passagers side where another customer car parked and walk way was, what a awful sight to see a dent on your car ,while car was parked on lower deck, but the experience gets... We had reservations for the 11 am ferry but got on the 10 am as we arrived early. We paid the extra $16 to get on & off among the first cars. Very comfortable ride. Although it was misty & the view wasn't very good, the ride itself was great. You couldn't even tell you were moving unless you looked... More

My wife and I are frequent ferry riders from the Pacific Northwest... This is our first trip to the Northeast, and decided to drive up Long Island, and take the ferry to New London, CT... Drive up the island was wonderful, and the ferry was fun... We had a nice lunch in the lounge in the front of the ship... More

This is a nice way to bookend a getaway weekend. Slow, and reasonably comfortable. Coffee is available and some snacks, but I preferred to wait. If the weather is cool on land, it is cooler on water. The inside space is heated, but drafty. Just bring something to read or enjoy conversation with your travel partners.
