June 24,2022 Tour of Santorini
Top notch Tour of Santorini with our Tour guide George and Marino (Driver).
This is my 2nd time in Santorini and this the only time I enjoyed all the places we visited. George is very knowledgeable and made sure that we spent enough time on each place we visited. The lunch at Fougard was just amazing!!!
I highly recommend this tour company and the owner Dimitris was prompt and responsive with all my emails. Dimitris, George and Marino thank you so much for a wonderful tour. Also a shout out to Dimitris for accommodating a last minute request from new friends I met at the ship.

If you are looking for a custom tour of Santorini look no further. OceanWave tours went out of their way to make our day in Santorini a memorable one. Dimitris (owner) is great to work with. He set up a fabulous driver and guide for our group of 13. Our time in Santorini was limited so he worked around what we wanted to see the most. Our day started at the top of the lift with a walk thru Fira for some pictures. We proceeded to the town of Oia for breathtaking photos of the famous blue dome houses and gorgeous views and free time shopping. One of the highlights of this trip was the wine tasting at Santos Winery! WOW was that an amazing experience. Our tour ended as we drove along the coast to a black sand beach and stopped their to put our toes in the sand. Given the short amount of time we had we got to see and enjoy a lot. I contacted Dimitri’s a day later to let him know I forgot a package on the tour bus. He made sure it got shipped back to me to the US. I was very impressed by everything about this tour company. They are all about the guests, timely, great value for the money and mostly eager to please. Thanks again for a wonderful day in Santorini! You have my business when I come back to your beautiful country.

Booked again through ocean waves for a couple of tours, as was a long day in Port. On first tour, we had George as our our guide and driver Marnies , who were great, navigating us through the cities of Fira and Oia. George was patient as we had to wait for our group as the cable car lines were crazy that day. George was fun and knowledgeable. Dimitri was great coordinating our tours. We were lucky to end our day on nice boat tour to see Oia from water and get an awesome sunset.

We had a 4 stop booking for our recent trip to Santorini and an option for lunch, we were under the impression it was to be with Dimitris and we had a 3:30pm meeting time. We got there at the top via the cable car at 3:25pm and Dimitris informed us that we would be going with someone else. We were to go to Oia, Akirotini excavations, Santo Wines and Pyrgo and have a lunch on your own time. From the beginning our guide said that we needed to decide were we wanted to go because she didnt feel we might make it all and that we needed to decide quickly but she would try to do them all. We were an arranged tour of 8 people who were put into a van that barely fit for all of us and it was very hot in the van. She kept saying that she needed to drive slowly because she was concerned for our safety so it was not likely we would make the arranged tour due to her having to drive so "carefully."

We were brought to Oia and told we had 1 hour there and we could meet back there and then we needed to decide where to go from there. We had an arranged itinerary so it was not really anything we needed to discuss, we should have just gone based on that and this was indicated to her but she just kept indicating we might not make them all due to her having to drive so carefully for our safety. From Oia we headed to the Akirotini excavations at that point she dropped us off and indicated that the red and black beach were right down the way if anyone didnt want to do the ruins and we could venture there. Amazingly a few people did walk down there and she was in her van sleeping at the beach that we were told we could walk to.

From that point we were told that due to time constraints and again her concern at our safety while driving on these winding roads we needed to head back to the drop off point. She didnt take us anywhere near were we started and basically told us that we should following the signs to get us back to the cable car to head back to the port but she did mention that we needed to pay her in full for the services.

This "guide" never really guided us anywhere and we had to continuously ask her questions and because I personally did not arrange this tour for our cruise and the person that did, really didnt stand up for the group to say that we were not given the tour as per our agreement, we paid our share and immediately indicated to her that we would never give anyone that did this a tip and no one else did either except the person that arranged the tour.

I have read many other reviews on this company and this is mostly why I agreed to go as well but our trip that was to include 4 stops and a possibly for lunch on our own was no where near what was delivered and I felt that it needed to be noted so others may understand that we as a group were very, very disappointed and of all the cruise excursions we experienced this past few weeks, this was by the far the worst one that any of us experienced.

I don't understand the hype posted here in TripAdvisor about Oceanwave tour's
Dimitrios Nikolaidis. Because of the great reviews here we opted to engage his services even if it's more expensive than the regular tours operated by other agencies in Santorini. But to our horror, he was not at all helpful as a guide.

Pros: He came on time as discussed.
His vehicle was clean and in great condition. We were 14 people and his van was comfortable enough.
He drives fast but probably close to being reckless at times especially when we are driving up and down hills. (so a little of a con here)
He knows an overview of the island.

Cons: He is both the driver and the unlicensed guide. Hence, attention is quite split.
He is not a well-informed guide. He will just give you a gist of the place and we just took some photos and that was it.
He just waits for you by the vehicle. We were left on our own to climb and walk all the way to the Red Beach. We were left on our own to enter Akrotiri since he is not licensed so he cannot go in, so basically we didn't understand what we saw inside Akrotiri (ancient civilization). We were left on our own to walk to the Prophet Elias' church which was also closed on that day. We were not driven to the Black Beach.
He does not know where to take nice photos in Oia. He just left us somewhere where we could have dinner, but it's no where near the view of the sunset. We traversed the narrow paths of Oia to get good photos on our own, which by then was already too late since several people already took the good spots.

To put everything in a nutshell: He just knows where the spots are but to explain and be a guide to explain while walking with you... well he didn't do any of that. Hence, we did not really appreciate the Santorini City tour we booked.

As I was the one who booked his services, I was even constantly reminding Dimitris to explain everything to the group because I saw his shortcomings and I didn't want the group to regret hiring him.

We were charged Euros 600 for this tour and we felt that we were ripped off.

I advise that you hire a licensed tour company to get a better and well-informed tour of Santorini.

I do not mention on my web site and not in my e-mails that I am a licensed guide, I am a tour guide. If you do not know what this is, then you should ask and like you found all the details about the island, what to see, where to go just to take as many photos, you will find this answer too. So telling that OceanWave Tours is not licensed is wrong, we do have license to provide Tours and any kind of transportation. I am not a certified guide to guide into Archeological sites, therefore, if you where so interested, you could hire one for an hour, but most of you didn’t want to pay the 5 Euro entrance, or should I pay for them? The same at the winery: you thought that 1 Euro was too much to taste a glass of wine!! Anyway, after all the e-mails you have sent me changing the itinerary I just took you where you ask me too. You wanted so much to see the red beach, again most of you didn’t want to climb up the hill to see it, and you expect me to go with you to all these places you found on the Internet and suppose to be THE super ouaou. NO my friend, I didn’t do it for 600 Euros and I wouldn’t do it for 6000 Euros. I remember, you asking me after your “visit” at the red beach: is this the red beach? And I said yes, and you said this is nothing, on the internet people said that is something very special, well you shouldn’t believe whatever you read just ask people who have done it, then you have a correct opinion. Once more, I am not a certified guide but so far me and all the drivers I use are the best tour guides on the island, very friendly with all our clients and we talk with them all the time, unless they talk to each other like your group did, then I just drive around and can’t wait when the tour ends. This is for the people who are thinking of using our company for their tour: If you are looking for someone to drive you around JUST to take photos, to hire a taxi will be ideal, they get paid by the hour so they would love you to stay at each place as long your memory card has space. BUT if you want someone to show you the real island and it’s beauty and hear all you need to know and of course take a few photos during the tour (and you should know that I do take photos of all my clients and they love that) then we are the right company.

We were very disappointed by the entire experience. We paid 650 euros and it did not include the cost of the cable car we had to take to be able to meet the van. When we found the driver we quickly walked for 20 minutes to the van. Apparently he could not park any closer. By the time we arrived at the van we were all very hot and thirsty and looking forward to airconditioning. Unfortunately the van's cooling system never cooled the van. The sound quality in the van was horrible and it crackled the whole time. Those in the back (there were 11 of us) called to him and asked him to speak up and he responded "If you shut up you would be able to hear me." How incredibly rude.

When he did talk to us he did not share much history of the island or where we visited.

We stopped at a winery and the description of the tour made it sound like samples of wine were included in the tour but that turned out to not be true. Another additional expense.

We booked 6 other private excursions on our trip to Greece, Italy and Turkey and all but this one were perfect. I highly encourage anyone going to Santorini to find another tour.

We used Oceanwave Tours in Santorini last week for a private tour of Santorini, during our one day stopover from Celebrity Equinox cruise. Great day out with a lovely driver, Emmanuel, who took us all round the island, finding the most picturesque photo opportunities, stopped for a lovely lunch in a taverna on the edge of the sea, a really lovely memorable day - highly recommended. They meet you at the top of the cable car lift, you can either take the lift or a donkey to get up there ! Beautiful island, and stunning scenery, well worth doing, and much cheaper than shore excursions from the cruise ship.

My husband and I did this tour as a shore excursion with a group of 6 people. Right from the start this tour was great. Patricia was waiting for us with a beautiful smile in Fira (at the top of the cable car line). We walked to her comfy van and off we went. We literally saw the island from end to end. Going just to Fira or Oia wouldn't show you the local flavor of this beautiful island. We learned a lot about how the island was formed, the people, and the culture.
The first half of the tour was spent touring a winery and a local market while tasting some amazing food. No pressure to buy anything. Then we were off to a driving tour, including vineyards, ending in Oia. Patricia walked with us showing us the best places to get those postcard views, then let us on our own to stroll Oia's beautiful marble streets. She met us half way to check on us and then let us continue on. Some of us went to have a drink on one of the beautiful patios overlooking the coast, some went shopping and others went exploring all the "nooks" of Oia. She was aware of the limited time we had on the island and made the absolute most of it. At the end of the evening we were dropped off in FIra so we could stroll the town and make our way back to the cable car. We made it back to our ship with plenty of time and stress free. After hearing other peoples stories of being rushed around and how little they saw, we were really glad we went with Ocean Wave tours!

We were in over sixty people and pay 100 euros in advance. Results? Total disappointment! They did not show up and several seniors who were with us had to stay in a hot sun, intense heat for over an hour until we find taxi for all! Dishonest business!
We called several times and they attended only the first time and said the bus was coming, lie! After that they did not attended phone calls! !

I know it was my mistake to relay to another bus company to do the transfer who put me down and didn't send the bus and you had to find other way to get to Oia i did my best to find another buσ but unsuccessful we all make mistakes and nobody is perfect if you think that writing bad reviews will make you feel better keep doing it i will survive one way or the other because GOD is with my and he is THE ΟΝΕ to take revenge one day and no one else. You also know that i already refund your deposit the same day.

It sounds good - Meet us at the op of h cable car 5 euros per person. Fine BUT BUT when you are 'met' you are then to to go down the approx 600 cobbled steps and slopes to met the bus. Then when the tour guide (the daughter of he owner who drives the bus) eventually comes to the vehicle we can start he tour. Although she has a fair knowledge of the facts and figures of the island and the history of this she has no ability to join with her customers had actually let them know what and when things are to be done.
Part o he tour was a wine tasting We arrived and she disappeared until I found her an asked what we wold do and she sad go up there!!! sum total of her assistance.
We did however find out what to do and had a good time there.
No where were we advised that this tour - to beat the large buses - went a long way around and included some 20 minutes high walking of steps an cobbles when we could have gone the other way and only had 500 metres of those steps. I was exhausting an no fun at all No time to look at any shops just at the view for photos.
Lunch - again when we were ignored by here while she sat with her father was no in a very good place as the choice was mostly fish and salad. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone particularly someone organising a private tour as i can be disappointing No water was supplied in this bus either which is most unusual

In our first replay we mention that the cable car costs 5 Euros each way, if you didn't want to pay that and you walk down to the port it is not our problem at all, the walk to meet the minibus was not more than 200 meters and that was the closest we could bring it for you. You shouldn't give wrong information to the people who are reading your review trying to explain why you only in the group didn't enjoy the tour, everybody else did, as they where happy when i avoid the crowds and took you to the other end of Oia for the views and photos, if you couldn't walk and i found that later you should stay on the bus and let the others do it because they pay for that. All the information i told you were the correct since i have been on many tours with my father who is the owner of the company and possibly the best tour guide on the island that's why the almost 200 reviews. Maybe i'm not very experience yet but do not forget that i'm only 17 years old and i hope in the future no others will judge me as strictly as you did!! Finally the Tavern i took you is the most Traditional on the island and it doesn't have just fish and salads but also other Greek food but again if this didn't meet your expectations there was not much i could do, again everybody else did enjoy the food and the prices there and if you had invite me i would sit with you but you didn't being afraid that you had to pay for my lunch i suppose therefore i sat with my father. Your other complain was about the winery, i took you there and show you where to taste the wines maybe i made a mistake for not being the whole time with you but maybe not.
