We went here in October to go for a swim. The access road takes you past building sites rubbish and resorts. It isnt signposted. By the time we arrived on the beach I didnt want to go for a swim any longer. Plastic bottles and beer cans also quite lonely so wasnt sure it would be safe later in the day. Would have given it one star but one has to admit one can look at the sea and its a beach

Katharos Beach is not worth it. From the center of Oia, it is easily a 15-20 minute walk straight down and the hike back up was nearly unbearable. Once you get to the landing above the beach, there is no clear pathway down and it is quite difficult to know which is the safest path. Then, once we got to the beach, it was very rocky and dark - meaning it was too hot to walk on with bare feet, even on rocks closer to the water. Overall, it is pretty but definitely not worth it.

I took me 2 attempts to find this beach on foot, but worth it. It is a pebble beach so do not expect any sand. But there is hardly anyone on the beach, so perfect for chill out time. Recommend packing water shoes, the sea base is a little rough with rocks. Also an amazing bar/food modern tavern here, well worth a visit even if you only want lunch or dinner. They do not take cards, so make sure you have cash.

This is quite a secluded beach, and a bit of a drive to get to and there is a bit of a hike from parking at the top down to the water. But if you want to get away from the crowds it is a nice place to go. There are no amenities around, other than the Katharos Lounge, which serves amazing food, but you should make reservations and have plenty of time to enjoy.

Very dramatic, and after passing the restaurant the paths down to the beaches were a bit scary for an OAP! Younger people seemed to have no problem though. The restaurant there serves superb food, I had Katharos salad which was sublime.

It is a beautiful beach, crystal clear water with volcanic walls, it is very suggestive and you can admire the sunset from here. Three stars only for the mono where you get there, There is a steep road with friable terrain that is dangerous to people .. you could build a ladder to make sure that people can get off quietly ..

My friends and I decided to walk to this beach from our Airbnb in Oia and it was a pretty long, hot walk (mostly uphill on the way back) but really it was fine.
Once you hit Katharos Lounge, take the rocky path to the left down to the beach. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes for this part. I did slide on some rocks in my sandals and some rocks are not stable, etc.
The beach itself mostly consisted of larger stones and pebbles but you can get comfy on your towel for the most part.
Going into the water was totally worth it. The water is crystal clear and you can see all the rocks on the bottom. Very cool and refreshing. The rocks on the beach are hot and for me it was difficult to stand/walk on the wet rocks so I would recommend wearing water shoes if you have them.
This was a pretty fun, quick stop for us since it was so hot. You definitely have to get in the water at some point and you can stop at the lounge for a drink or some food before the hike back up.

Great to swim in clear waters but the beach itself is super pebble-y and not really a comfortable lounging beach. Santorini is not known for its beaches anyway so if you don’t have rock shoes and a hardened bamboo-type mat, save the time and don’t bother the trek up and down the hill.

Approximately 20 mins walk from Santorini Oia to Katharos Beach. You will come across a Katharos bar which was already not in business before you reach this small and secluded beach with golden hill or small mountain beside it and not many people visit this beach. We enjoyed our privacy and serenity at the beach.

There aren't many beaches on this side of Santorini - this one is worth hunting out. It's a ten minute walk from Oia and is down a rocky path which is steep in parts but can be managed by most. The beach is stony so you will need beach shoes if you plan swimming. It's quiet and wild - the perfect place away from the crowds.
