- RyanBJBirmingham, United Kingdom54 contributionsExcellent tour & tastingHighly recommend visiting this winery. We chose the €50 tour and tasting, the tour consisted of about 20mins walking through the vineyards talking about the history of the winemaking on the island and of Domaine Sigalas - our guide Pablos, was superb and answered any question I threw at him, really fantastic knowledge. The wine tasting consisted of 8 wines - 6 whites, 1 rose, 1 red and 1 dessert wine. A real great introduction to Santorini wine, providing a broad range and showing the differences achievable with Assyrtiko wine (the main produce of Santorini). At the end we decided we would buy the dessert wine to take home but ended up buying the more expensive one after our host kindly offered us a tasting when we were deciding which to buy (it’s a 4.3 on Vivino and simply glorious). Overall strongly recommend this tour and tasting and give a huge commendation to Pablos for making the whole experience.Visited October 2020Traveled as a coupleWritten October 25, 2020

We booked it on the morning of the tour as it is especially quiet this year, and it became a private tour for our small group. I think any other year these would book up quickly! The tour was so informative, very scenic and the tasting rooms / Terrace are stunning. Pavlos was excellent and made the tastings very personal, chatting through each wine and asking for our feedback. It was overall very relaxed, with some families arriving for dinner or small groups for some drinks on the terrace. Very close to Oia, we walked down from our accommodation and then it was around €10 for a taxi back into the town which they arranged for us - overall great experience.Visited October 2020Traveled with friendsWritten October 19, 2020
- Ian APenang Island, Malaysia59 contributionsTasty, Tantalizing, but Taxi Turmoil! We had a joyous experience of wine pairing at the Domaine Sigalas during our Santorini stay. The introduction to the winery and the wine was very informative and we got to hear all about the process and ask any pertinent questions of our very knowledgeable guide. The 5 wines that we tasted were very pleasant and were all created on the island. There were distinct flavours, which worked perfectly well with the food that was served too. The food itself was exceptional, fresh, with ample portions and timing between the courses. Although it was quite warm outside, we experienced a lovely sunset over the winery as we supped on the delicious wine and enjoyed the ambiance and food courses throughout the evening. If we could suggest one negative from the experience, it was the transport too and from the winery. A taxi was VERY expensive to be driven for only 20 minutes. We then booked a taxi for the journey back to our hotel and shared with 2 other guests. Instead of splitting the cost, the taxi driver doubled the total price, which was very naughty! The taxi experience left a slight sour taste in our mouths, it would be great if the winery had some form of transport or better contacts so that the start and end to the experience were as good as the whole eating and drinking part in the middle!Dear Ian, Thank you for your positive feedback and detailed review, highly appreciated. Sadly we cannot be held responsible for taxi prices nor the behavior of the drivers. We have looked into setting up our own transfer service but the bureaucracy and logistics are too much trouble to overcome for a small business like Sigalas. I am sorry if this spoiled the good time that you had at our premises and I do hope we meet again in the future. We sat at our reserved table for 15 minutes before a staff member came to take our order. The tasting flights, incredibly, do not include their best wines, which we had had at local restaurants and were planning to purchase in quantity. The flight we chose was unimpressive, with a vinsanto so vile we were longing for a spit bucket but , unlike at every other of the *many* winery tasting rooms we’ve been to, none was provided. The worst thing was that staffmembers sat *smoking* at the table next to ours; this made it impossible for us to taste the wine flight we did order. (The woman who appeared to be the supervisor brought these men a couple of glasses of the Nychteri and accepted a pat on the bottom for her efforts.) The other staff seemed uninterested in explaining the wine, let alone selling any. We had to ask for water to accompany the tasting, and my husband had to go inside to order glasses of the Nychteri to accompany our food, since the waitress didn’t even ask if we wanted to order a glass. Go to any other winery on Santorini instead of this one. A real, and literal, sour note on which to conclude our stay on Santorini.

There seems to be a significant difference to the price that tourists are charged vs the actual price. We were charged 50€ per person for wine tasting that did not include any of the premium wines. In the menu with the price list for the wine tasting we had was 16€ per person. The explanation of the Sigalas domain manager was that the 50€ per person includes a 5-10 minute tour of the wine field. They did not apologise or try to make it up to us.
Additionally the sommelier that served us seemed to be bored and struggled with even the most basic questions.
I suppose because this place has good reviews that perhaps others that had a meal as well had a better experience but for me it felt like a tourist trap.

Dear Mr nickstradamus,
We would like to thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. We are very sorry that we were not able to provide you with a positive experience during your visit at our winery.
The service you booked includes a wine tasting of 6 different wines, and also a tour of the vineyards that lasts approximately 20 minutes. These tours take place 3 times a day (12, 4pm, 6pm) and the maximum number of participants is 6. Our wine tasting area is also open for visitors who wish to come and enjoy a glass of wine, with prices starting at 2.70€ for 75ml.
Our policies and prices regarding the offerings are fully transparent. Our menu and price list are publicly available on our wine tasting website.
Once again, we are very sorry for the negative experience you had. We would hope to be able to make it up to you next time you visit Santorini.
Kind regards,
Katerina Balkaba

From start to finish, our experience at Domaine Sigalas was exceptional. Sophia was our guide and she did a phenomenal job informing us about the terroir, the wines, and the food during the tour. She also gave us information and some history of the island itself. We chose the sunset tour where we were given a welcome glass of sparkling wine followed by a 5 course meal each paired with a glass of wine. Our favorite wine was the Mavrotragano. We felt the food was a beautiful expression of the land and each wine was perfectly selected to compliment each dish. The sunset in the vineyard and overlooking the ocean was spectacular. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a quality and uniquely tailored winery experience In Santorini.

Our afternoon at Domaine Sigalas was fantastic. We booked the Volcano Diver's Wine Experience and enjoyed every part of it... the walk through the vineyard, the wine (all 5 of them), the food pairings, and especially the attentiveness of our host. Informative, engaging, and relaxing. I highly recommend this winery over other wineries on the island based on the items I already mentioned and the intimate nature of the entire experience. Please enjoy!!!

This was a great experience! When we booked it said it would take an hour, but in total we were there for just over two hours. In that time, we got a great tour from the guide and sampled 10 or so wines. Each one was delicious and the guide explained the process that went into creating them. It's a beautiful setting and well worth the money!

This winery was recommended by a bar owner in Athens, However, it seems that most of the wineries in Santorini do not like walk-ins and prefer guests who book a tour with some other agency. At Sigalas, we were given a small, cramped table in a far corner, all the tasting wines poured and brought to our table, explanations given and we were left on our own. It is a miracle one of the glasses didn't fall off the table, it was that small!
Compare our experience with larger groups who had come in a tour, the staff explained the characteristics of the wines, one by one, and spent time with them. But, as elsewhere in Santorini, this could be because of racial bias as well
The wines themselves are average to good, but not wow!

Dear SurajShah,
As much as we appreciate the time that you have taken to review us, your review is misleading, sadly - and will be reported to TripAdvisor, especially the "racial bias" part is simply offending and unacceptable.
As it is clearly stated on our website, we serve reservations by absolute priority and it is true that we collaborate with some agencies, but 90% of our visitors are privateers who just book on their own behalf - you should have expected so in a crowded destination such as Santorini.

My parter and I visited the vineyard. Its not too far to walk to from OIA (around 30m). A lot of vineyards in Santorini require you to drive or get an overpriced taxi. Who wants to drive when going to taste wine? No one.
We walked there and the vineyard is pretty and quaint. There's sunny bits and shady bits, outdoors and indoors to suit all climates. We were greeted with a smile and the staff couldn't be any friendlier. We sat down and the staff explained what they had to offer. They also explained every wine and every cheese that we ordered. There were also 2 friendly cats they own and the staff are quick to ensure that you were OK with them milling around you.
You can either just have lunch and some wine or you can do 3 different wine tasting. The cheapest being at €20 for 5 wine tasters (30ml each) up to €34 for 8 wine tasters. We did the 8 wines and they give you a nice booklet with information on all the wines, how it's made etc and a bit for notes for yourself. This was a great addition we thought as we acted like wine connoisseurs. We also ordered a cheese board for €23 which was a decent size, around 6 cheeses, 2 slices each.
All in all, it came to €116 for the both of us (we had 2 full glasses of our fave on top).
For excursions, you'd expect to spend somewhat €130+ EACH for less.
Once again, the service was above and beyond so thank you.

Not recommended. The winery is about 2-3 miles from Oia and there are hills and steps and you will be on the roadway for part of the time. Taxis is easy to get.

I'm a bit confused by the prices, a lot of reviews mention around 30 Euros for wine tasting but on the website there are only 2 options: 100 Euro or 150 Euro. Is there a menu where you can pick wines and order food separately when you get there?

Yes, you can taste individual wines and order food without buying the lunch. The lunch is a LOT of food. There are tables set inside and on a terrace. I do not recall the menu but it is not the same as the lunch. It was ala carte. I would suggest an email to the winery for your specific questions.. They speak English and were very responsive. This winery is a long way from the port - 35-40 minutes by taxi as I recall. They buy their grapes from surrounding vineyards, but the tour of the representative vineyard at the winery is worth the time if you are at all interested in this sort of thing.

The gentleman at the winery encouraged us to share a tasting. I believe we paid $30 Euro total. It included a full flight tasting for us to enjoy at our own pace. We did order some appetizers to munch on, and then a glass of our favorite wine afterwards. All in all it was much less than 100 Euros.

Hi, we came for a wine tasting with Santorini Wine Tours on July 12th. The last one we tasted was a very sweet, barrel aged, gold/brown white wine that was very delicious. I'd like to know the name of this wine because I forgot to write it. Also, I'd like to know if we can find it in Switzerland or order it? Thank you very much!

Domaine Sigalas allows the customer to pick 4, 6, 8 wines to taste and has a nice pairing/food menu as well. We found 6 dry wines - 2 bubbly, 4 red. Lovely shaded spot shown on the pic with vines above.
Kali Riza, 100% Xinomavro, over 100 yrs old vines. #KirYianni was favorite Greece winery. Did not visit Northern Greece where they are, however, #DomaineSigalas Winery is the best winery on Santorini and recommended by #santoriniprincess after a major disappointment at #venetsanowinery (their tasting is only their sweet wines - they will not open their dry reds).
Domaine Sigalas poured their wines (we had 4 of theirs, all very good) and they also pour Kir-Yianni wines - the 2 dry reds from Kir-Yianni were my favorites - both under $20. Also bought another bottle at duty free shop in the airport (similar price).

Bright red colour, fruity aromas, rich and complex character on the palate, refreshing acidity, lingering aftertaste. Intense aromas of wild strawberry and cherry entwine with ne herbal hints, while on the palate the pronounced freshness balances with the ample body, offering a wine ready to be enjo..
